The Kia Sonet has managed to cross the 1,5 lakh unit sales mark in just 2 years since its launch in India. The car takes on some of the most popular offerings like the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Venue among others.
Kia has announced that the Sonet compact SUV had crossed the 1.5 lakh-unit sales milestone in India in just 2 years since its launch. The company stated that the car accounts for over 32% of its sales in India.
Kia introduced the Sonet in India in September 2020 at an introductory price tag of Rs 6.71 lakh (ex-showroom). After its debut, it took the car just 12 months to cross the one lakh sales milestone in India.
The company sold 73,864 units of the car in FY22. The Sonet was the fourth best-selling compact SUV, behind the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza as well as the Hyundai Venue.
Kia states that 25% of the Sonet buyers went for the iMT clutchless manual gearbox. The higher variants including the HTX+ and GTX+ accounted for 26% of the overall sales. At least 22% of the buyers went for the automatic variants. However, a major chunk of 41% of buyers opted for the diesel model.
In the domestic market, the Kia Sonet rivals models including Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Toyota Urban Cruiser and the recently launched facelift of the Hyundai Venue.
