The 2019 iteration gets a more powerful diesel motor in the SE and HSE variants
Land Rover has brought in an updated version of the Discovery Sport. The price of the mid-sized SUV remains unchanged starting at Rs 44.68 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2019 Discovery Sport gets minor cosmetic and infotainment updates and a more powerful diesel motor.
Starting with the engine – the diesel Discovery Sport in the higher SE and HSE trim now develops 177bhp and 430Nm from the same 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel mill. Thanks to the more powerful motor this Discovery Sport can do the 0-100km/h dash in 8.9seconds and record a top speed of 188km/h. The engine continues to be paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Other changes to the 2019 Discovery Sport include minor updates to the exterior design including a body kit, chrome tailpipe, and black treatment to the grille and near the rear license plate. The tailgate also gets a red ‘Sport’ badge. Additionally, the Discovery Sport also gets an updated Touch Pro infotainment system that comes with a navigation system and improved voice command.
While Land Rover has only brought in the more powerful diesel version in the SE and HSE trims, the base Pure trim will continue to push out 148bhp and 382Nm. The petrol, on the other hand, will continue with the same motor but will get all the cosmetic updates from the 2019 iteration.
