We previously informed you that the Mahindra Thar's five-door version will feature a larger infotainment system than its three-door counterpart. In a recent development, more spy images of the upcoming SUV have appeared online which exhibits that even its front profile differs from the 3-door model. The most recent pictures demonstrate the six-slat grille on the 5-door variant. The slats continue with a semi-exposed pattern after being divided horizontally. While the round headlamps are still there, projectors with possible LED lighting will be used in place of the halogen lighting. Moreover, the front bumpers seem identical to that of the 3-door sibling, however upon closer inspection, it can be seen that Mahindra may swap out the conventional halogen fog lamps on the Thar 5-door for LED projector fog lamps. Aside from this, the forthcoming Thar is also expected to ride on new 5-spoke alloy wheels. Here are some more details regarding this 5-door variant of the Thar, which is slated to go on sale next year in India.

The new Thar will provide the same engine options as its 3-door counterpart. It will have an option of two engines: a 2.0-litre gasoline engine that makes 150bhp and 300–320Nm, or a 2.2-litre diesel engine that yields 130bhp and 300Nm. The engines are anticipated to have a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox option for the transmission.

It will reportedly have an electric sunroof and a fixed metal top as significant upgrades over the three-door model. Further, the interior is also expected to largely stay the same, with minimal tweaks in the form of more cargo space and a larger infotainment unit. The 7-inch touchscreen head unit is currently available in the 3-door variant.
