The XUV500 is going to be updated with a new face and possibly also with more power.

The Mahindra XUV500 has been facing a lot of heat of late, thanks to the Jeep Compass. Therefore, Mahindra is all set to give the XUV its second facelift, which will be launched on April 18, 2018.

Aesthetically, the 2018 XUV is expected to feature a revised face with an all-new grille, tweaked bumpers and new LED DRL signature. The rear of the new XUV is said to feature more significant updates, which will come in the form of brand new triangular tail lights with a new design for the liftgate as well.

On the inside, the facelifted XUV will feature a new interior colour and upholstery design. Also, on cards is a new soft touch dashboard, which may be wrapped in leather on the top-end variant. Hopefully, Mahindra will upgrade the fit and finish of the cabin as well, along with including a few extra features as standard.

Industry rumours have also been suggesting that XUV will get more powerful in its second facelift. If this turns out to be true, expect the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine powering the XUV to pump a healthier 155bhp and 360Nm. However, just like with the new Scorpio, there’s a possibility that this more powerful motor will be reserved for the higher variants. Also, the recently launched 2.2-litre petrol engine will remain unchanged.

The current Mahindra XUV500 retails for Rs. 12.78 lakh – 18.89 lakh. With the upgrade, expect these prices to marginally go up. In comparison, the Jeep Compass is priced between Rs. 15.16 lakh and 21.91 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
