Mahindra will launch the Alturas G4 on 24th November. Pre-launch bookings for the SUV have commenced
Scheduled to be launched on 24th November, Mahindra has officially christened their premium SUV codenamed Y400, as the Alturas G4. Mahindra says that this new offering will be a gateway into luxury and hence bears the name Alturas, which means height or pinnacle.
The full-sized SUV is essentially a rebranded iteration of the SsangYong Rexton and was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2018. The company had previously announced that the premium SUV will be launched on 19th November; the launch has now been pushed by a few days. The Alturas G4 will be positioned above the XUV5OO and will be the largest offering from Mahindra. To offer customers a premium experience, the Alturas G4 will be sold in separate zones within the existing outlets.
As far as the car is concerned, while it looks identical to the SsangYong Rexton G4, it has typically Mahindra traits in its design. At the front there is the vertically slat grille on either side of which are large rectangular LED headlamps. The rear features sharp spearhead shaped taillights and a chrome strip that connects the two. Expect the Alturas G4 to be premium on the inside too. It will come with soft-touch materials and leather upholstery and a long list of features including dual-zone climate control, ventilated seats, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, and more. The fully loaded trim will come with 9 airbags, ABS, EBD and more.
At the heart, the Mahindra Alturas G4 will come with a 2.2-litre diesel motor that pushes out 183bhp. There will not be a petrol engine option to start with. Mahindra will produce the Alturas G4 at their production facility in Chakan near Pune. The Mahindra Alturas G4 is expected to be priced around the Rs 30 lakh mark which will put it in the same league as the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Honda CR-V and the likes.
