Maruti Suzuki is poised to make a significant entry into the electric vehicle market with the launch of the e Vitara in India, set for September 2025. In a recent press conference, R.C. Bhargava, Chairman of Maruti Suzuki, confirmed that deliveries of the e-Vitara will commence in the same month. This marks the company’s first all-electric SUV, following its unveiling at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Built on the new Heartect-e platform, the e Vitara will offer two battery options – 49kWh and 61kWh – delivering a range of over 500 km on a full charge. Production will begin at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant, with an estimated 70,000 units planned for the fiscal year, most of which will be exported. The e Vitara aims to compete with rivals such as the Hyundai Creta EV, MG ZS EV, and Tata Curvv EV in India’s growing EV market.

Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara: Battery Specs

The new electric Vitara is based on Suzuki's cutting-edge HEARTECT-e platform, designed specifically for electric vehicles. It will come with two battery options: a 49kWh and a 61kWh pack, both utilising BYD’s LFP 'Blade' cells.

Both variants are paired with a front-mounted electric motor, providing a peak torque of 192.5Nm. The 49kWh model generates 143bhp, while the 61kWh variant delivers 173bhp. In global markets, a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive option will also be available, offering 184bhp and 300Nm of torque. The carmaker has confirmed that the e Vitara will offer a certified range of over 500 km per charge.

Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara: Exterior and Interior

Design-wise, the EV boasts a striking, contemporary design. The front end is highlighted by sleek LED headlights with three-piece DRLs, a blacked-out bumper, fog lamps, and silver skid plates, contributing to its bold, rugged appearance. The side view is accentuated by alloy wheels, body cladding, and rear door handles seamlessly integrated into the C-pillar. At the back, the e Vitara features LED tail lights, a shark fin antenna, and a roof-mounted spoiler, all of which complement its aerodynamic silhouette.

Inside, the e Vitara boasts a contemporary three-tone interior and a minimalist dashboard design. It includes two integrated screens: one for infotainment and the other for the digital driver display, delivering an intuitive user experience. The vehicle features a new two-spoke steering wheel, a first for Maruti Suzuki.

The e Vitara is equipped with a suite of high-tech features, such as a 10.1-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, and connected car functionality. For safety, it includes Level-2 ADAS, parking sensors at both the front and rear, all-disc brakes, seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold.
