Maruti Suzuki opens bookings for the XL6 crossover at Rs. 11,000, confirms an automatic transmission model.

In a build-up towards the launch of the XL6, Maruti Suzuki has opened bookings for its upcoming crossover MPV, the XL6 at Rs. 11,000. Maruti Suzuki will retail the XL6 through its Nexa chain of outlets. For those who haven’t paid close attention to what the upcoming Maruti Suzuki XL6 is, well it’s a badge re-engineered version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The XL 6 derives its name from the fact that it is a six-seater model. This has been done by removing the second row bench seat from the Ertiga and replacing it with bucket seats for the second row.

Other changes that transform the Ertiga into the XL6 include new LED head lamps, a new front grille, new front and rear bumpers, black plastic cladding all around, black alloy wheels and an all-black interior colour theme instead of the Ertiga’s beige layout. The dashboard now has a silver plastic trim insert over the faux wood panel that runs across the dashboard. TheXL6 also gets Maruti’s new Smartplay Studio infotainment system unlike the Ertiga that gets the first Smartplay version.

Maruti Suzuki has also confirmed that an automatic gearbox version of the XL6 will be available right from the start. Firepower for the XL6 will continue to come from the Ertiga’s 1.5 litre, four cylinder petrol engine that’s good for 103bhp of max power and 138Nm of peak torque. The XL6 will be offered in BS-VI guise right from the get go. Like the Ertiga petrol, the XL6 will be offered with the choice of a five-speed manual gearbox and a four-speed torque converter automatic. Standard safety features will include ABS with EBD, dual front-airbags and ISOFIX seat hooks while the automatic model like in the Ertiga will feature stability control and hill start assist.

"At Maruti Suzuki, we have always focused on bringing out products that match the customers’ demand. The XL6 is an exclusive 6-seater premium MPV, designed to meet the aspirations of evolved and discerning NEXA customers. With XL6, we bring NEXA’s first premium MPV, which is high on comfort and convenience along with an array of safety features. The XL6 will further strengthen our NEXA products portfolio and provide our customers with a range of products from hatchbacks, Sedan, SUV and now a premium MPV at NEXA. We hope our customers enjoy the experience of our latest offering," Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India.
