The AMG model will also mark the GLC coupe’s debut in India.
Mercedes has the most extensive range of performance oriented vehicles in India. The German brand has everyone’s craving for performance satisfied with the wide variety of cars and SUVs available under its AMG umbrella.
Now, adding another member to the Mercedes-AMG line-up, the company will launch the GLC 43 AMG coupe in India on July 21. The GLC coupe draws its power from the company’s 3.0-litre bi-turbo V6 petrol motor. This engine develops a healthy 362bhp of power and 521Nm of torque. The mechanical force is fed to all the four wheels via a 9-speed DCT automatic gearbox. With all that power, the GLC 43 can launch from 0-100km/h in a shade under 5 seconds.
As expected, the AMG version of the GLC coupe will also get exclusive exterior treatment to differentiate it from its less powerful counterpart. These include a different grille, larger air intakes on the front bumper, brushed silver front lip, and 19-inch AMG alloy wheels.
The interiors get an all-black interior option along with red stitching - as opposed to the brown-bridge treatment of the ‘standard’ car. Further facilitating the sporty theme of the interior are flat bottom steering wheel, red seat belts and carbon-fibre inserts on certain parts.
Mercedes has not launched the standard GLC coupe in India, instead, it’s more practical (and mechanically identical) twin - the GLC (SUV), is available in the country and slots above the entry-level Mercedes-Benz GLA. The GLC coupe gets a characteristic sweeping roofline and a fast-back like tailgate to differentiate it from its traditional SUV twin. The coupe version of the GLC is also a strict 4-seater.
Mercedes India followed a similar trend with the bigger GLE SUV too. The standard version of the GLE is only available in the traditional SUV body-style, while the powerful AMG version has been launched in its SUV-coupe avatar.
