Until now, it's not known whether this recall will be extended to other regions. Mercedes sells the GLE 43 Coupe in India for Rs. 91.87 lakh (ex-showroom).

Certain units of the Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 and GLE 43 Coupe are facing unexpected engine shut downs in the United States. According to reports, this only happens under certain conditions. Quite often, the vehicle’s gearbox downshifts improperly while decelerating, leading to the rev range to fall below the optimal - which results in an engine stall.

In the affected vehicles, following the engine shut down, the notification appears through warning lights on the dashboard. However, Mercedes acknowledges that this could be dangerous if the engine stops while in traffic - and therefore the German company has decided to recall the affected units.

Both the Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 and GLE 43 Coupe are powered by a 3.0-litre, bi-turbo, V6 petrol motor - which makes 367bhp and 520Nm. A 9-speed automatic gearbox handles the power transmission duties - and it is this gearbox which is allegedly misbehaving.
