The first product from Mercedes's EQ electric sub-brand is all set to make its global debut.

Mercedes-Benz has dropped a teaser of its upcoming EQC all-electric SUV ahead of its global debut on September 4, 2018. In a short video posted on Twitter, the German automaker said that it’ll reveal the first product of its EQ electric sub-brand next week.

The teaser doesn’t reveal much but shows a glimpse of the headlight, which is basically a unique strip of LED light. The front grille has horizontal slats, and that’s about as far as we can see in this teaser. That said, the design will be unlike any current Mercedes car out there since the EQC marks the beginning of Mercedes’s all-electric chapter. Nonetheless, expect some of the design cues from the Generation EQ concept to make it to the production model.

Mercedes hasn’t divulged details or specifications of the upcoming EV, but it’s expected to come with a dual-motor setup, churning out a total power output of around 400bhp and offering a range of up to 500km.

Although Mercedes will reveal the production version of the EQC next week, it's not expected to go on sale any time before 2019. More details on that will be out during the official unveiling. So stay tuned…
