MG's second product for India – the ZS EV – arrives in two variants - Excite & Exclusive. The ZS EV Excite has been launched at ₹20.88 lakh and the higher-spec Exclusive edition carries an ex-showroom price tag of ₹23.58 lakh. For the first 1,000 customers who pre-booked the car before 17th Jan, the ZS EV Excite will be billed at ₹19.88 lakh and the Exclusive derivative at ₹22.58 lakh. Bookings for the car had opened on 23rd December 2019.

The ZS EV is propelled by a Permanent magnet synchronous motor that draws its power from a 44.5kWh liquid-cooled Li-ion battery pack. The IP-67 certified battery pack offers water resistance up to a depth of 1 metre and offers an ARAI-certified driving range of 340km. As for the motor's performance, the ZS EV churns out 140bhp & 353Nm of torque. This allows the five-seater EV to reach the 100km/h mark in just 8.5 seconds.

The ZS EV offers three charging options. Using a 50kW CCS Type 2 DC fast charger, the ZS EV can be charged up to 80 per cent charge in about 50 mins. The other two AC charging options are either through a 7.4kW home wall box charger (100 per cent charge in 6-8 hours) or a portable 15A socket charger (100 per cent charge in 16-18 hours). Both the wall box & portable chargers are provided with the car.

Similar to the Hector's MG Shield package, the ZS EV will offer its customers the 'eShield' after-sales package. It includes a standard 5-Year/Unlimited Km warranty on the car (with 5-Year RSA only for private buyers) and an 8-Year/1,50,000km warranty on the battery pack.

To compensate for India's current EV charging infrastructure shortfalls, MG has started work on creating a DC fast-charging network of its own, via its select dealerships. With 24x7 availability, this network will be expanded to some select satellite cities & towns along key routes.
