SUVs with a variety of features and designs are available in India. However, picking the right model while sticking to your budget can be difficult at times. To help you out, we've created a list comprising some of the most affordable SUVs in India under Rs 10 lakh. These SUVs are from well-known automakers, including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia, and more. So, without further ado, let's have a look at these reasonably priced SUVs in detail.

Hyundai Exter

The Exter from Hyundai carries a starting price tag of Rs 6.13 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. The 5-seater micro SUV is available in seven different variants: EX, EX (O), S, S (O), SX, SX (O), and SX (O) Connect, with a cargo area of 391 litres. It's driven by a 1.2-litre Kappa four-cylinder naturally aspirated (NA) petrol motor that produces 82bhp at 6,000rpm and 113.8Nm at 4,000rpm. A five-speed manual or automated gearbox is used for transmission. When running on CNG, the SUV produces 68bhp and 95.2Nm with only a five-speed manual transmission. The CNG option is exclusive to the S and SX mid-spec versions.

The Hyundai vehicle comes with rear AC vents, a digital instrument cluster, paddle shifters, a voice-activated electric sunroof, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with BlueLink-connected car technology, footwell lighting, metal pedals, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a wireless charger, and cruise control. It offers Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management, six airbags, a burglar alarm, Hill Assist Control, ABS with EBD, and more for passenger safety.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is a sub-4 metre SUV, priced at Rs 7.51 lakh ( starting, ex-showroom). It has two petrol engine options, which include a 1.0-litre Turbo Boosterjet petrol unit (99bhp/148Nm) with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox, and a 1.2-litre Dual-Jet Dual-VVT petrol mill (89bhp/113Nm) with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic. The car also gets a CNG option. The vehicle is fitted with a plethora of amenities, which include a 9.0-inch HD Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto,  a head-up display, a flat-bottom steering wheel, an ARKAMYS sound system, etc. 

The car's safety features comprise ABS with EBD, ESP with hill-hold assist and rollover mitigation, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, 6 airbags, and 3-point ELR seatbelts. 

Kia Sonet

The new Sonet was introduced by Kia India in January of this year at an attractive ex-showroom starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh. The SUV is available in seven broad variants: HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX+, and X Line, and three engine choices. The first engine option is a 1-litre turbo-petrol with a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT, which produces 118bhp and 172Nm. The second choice is a 1.2-litre manual petrol unit with only a  5-speed transmission that generates 82bhp and 115Nm. Finally, there is a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 250Nm and 114.4bhp. Its gearbox options are a 6-speed iMT, a 6-speed automatic, and a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Kia model's safety kit consists of six airbags, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control (ESC), and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The vehicle also comes with Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), which offer features like blind spot monitoring, frontal collision warning, and lane-keep assist. Other features of the subcompact SUV are a 4-way powered driver seat, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, automatic climate control, and ventilated front seats.

Tata Nexon

The Tata Nexon SUV's base price in India is Rs 8.15 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV comes in 11 different variants, namely Creative, Creative+, Creative+ S, Fearless, Fearless S, Fearless+ S, Pure, Pure S, Smart, Smart+, and Smart+. In terms of the powertrain, the SUV offers two options, which include a 1.5-litre diesel with 113bhp and 260Nm and a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol with 118bhp and 170Nm. A 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT, and 7-speed DCT transmission are available choices for the turbo-petrol motor. On the other hand, a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT are the two gearbox options offered for the diesel-powered version.

The Nexon SUV is equipped with a 10.25-inch floating infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connection, a wireless charger, a new digital instrument cluster, a two-spoke steering wheel, a voice-activated sunroof, a height-adjustable and ventilated front seat, among others. It comes fitted with safety equipment like a 360-degree camera with a blind spot monitor, six airbags, hill hold assistance, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), automatic headlamps with rain-sensing wipers, ABS with EBD, and more. 

Maruti Suzuki Brezza

In India, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is one of the best-selling vehicles. It is available in four primary variants: LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+, with a starting price of Rs 8.34 lakh (ex-showroom) in our market. Mechanically, the Brezza SUV features a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which puts out a maximum power of 102bhp and a peak torque of 137Nm. In CNG mode, this motor delivers 87bhp and 121.5Nm. While the petrol-only version offers both a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission as options, the CNG variant comes with just a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The Brezza benefits from a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a heads-up display, ambient lighting, a 4-speaker sound system, paddle shifters (AT versions), wireless phone charging, and more features. Its safety amenities include rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, up to six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), and hill-hold assist.
