The Audi A4 has been missing from the scene for quite a while. However, it’s coming back to the market soon – as early as January 2021. Audi has commenced the local assembly of the updated A4 at VW group’s plant in Aurangabad. The first unit of the refreshed A4 rolled out of the production line today, and it’ll be Audi India's first launch of 2021.

The new A4 sedan was launched in global markets in 2019, but it couldn’t make it to India on time, owing to the ongoing pandemic. The new model isn’t all-new though. It’s just a facelift. The updates to the new model include a sharper front fascia, featuring a new hexagonal grille, segmented LED DRLs, new and more aggressive bumpers, and re-profiled taillamps, which look similar to the new A6’s. Inside, the cabin looks familiar to the old model, but it will now come with a new 10.1-inch infotainment system with Audi’s new MMI system, along with a touchpad that replaces the control knob on the centre console. The 12.3-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit for instrumentation will continue to be offered.

Audi will offer the new A4 with only a petrol engine, just like the old car. However, instead of the previous car’s 1.4-litre TFSI unit, the new one will come with a bigger and more powerful 2.0-litre TFSI engine, which is rated at 188bhp and 320Nm. The engine will come paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which will send the drive to the front wheels.

When launched, expect the new Audi A4 to be priced between Rs 45 lakh and Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). The A4 will compete with the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Jaguar XE, and upcoming Volvo S60.
