It’s no secret that Chevrolet will be launching the face-lifted Beat in India during the third week of July, as was revealed by an official company letter to dealers that was circulating on the internet. It is also likely that we will be driving the car towards the end of May. For now though, we have spotted the car testing in Maharashtra. Spy pictures reveal that the new Beat gets a complete front-end makeover that will see the car get a new bonnet, front bumper and head lamps. The new bumper incorporates a much smaller front grille (like that of a Grand i10) which is compensated for by a generous air dam in the bumper. The new head lamps though will not be projector units as seen in the image here and LED DRLs are unlikely. Word has it though that the new tail lamps may incorporate LED strips. The rear profile of the car will also get a revised bumper. The side profile of the car will remain the same as that of the current car apart from new alloys and the inclusion of black steel rims with wheel caps in lesser variants, unlike the current lower end versions which get silver steel rims only.

The interiors of the face-lifted beat will get a refreshed dashboard with a new centre console featuring a new touchscreen infotainment system which GM India is calling ‘Mylink Infotainment’. The new system will feature Android Auto compatibility. There is also silver garnish around the centre console now, chrome garnish around the air vents, the lower half of the dashboard is now finished in beige while there is also a new digital instrument cluster. We would also like to see a remote central locking system for at least the top-end versions of the car as the current car only gets manual central locking.

The updated Chevrolet Beat will be powered by the current crop of engines serving the first iteration of the car in India, namely, the 1.2 litre, four cylinder, 77.9bhp petrol engine and the 1.0 litre, three cylinder, 57bhp diesel engine.

Expect Chevrolet to launch the car at a slight premium over prices of the current car.
