In its new avatar, the Alto K10 is set to get a host of new features.

Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Alto K10 in India tomorrow. The car comes as the sixth major launch for the company this year and also the smallest. The Alto was first launched 22 years ago and Maruti Suzuki has sold over 40 lakh units of the car since then.  No other car in the country has surpassed the sales of the car.

The car is expected to come with a host of new features among other changes. The company recently released new teasers and commercials for the car that gave us a glimpse of the upcoming package. Traditionally, the Alto has been popular for its practicality and affordable price tag. However, with the new iteration, that is set to change.

The car is expected to arrive in 11 variants which include four variants with AGS (Auto Gear Shift) or automatic gearbox. Alongside this, the new Alto K10 is also expected to get a touchscreen infotainment system and steering-mounted controls. The top-rung variants of the car are also expected to benefit from most of the new features.

The teaser suggests that the car will get an all-black interior, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that will come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, four power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs and a remote key among other features.

Powering the car will be the new generation K10C petrol engine. The 1.0-litre naturally aspirated unit will be capable of producing 66bhp at 5,500rpm and 89Nm of torque at 3,500rpm. Note that this is the same engine that powers the new Celerio, WagonR, and S-Presso. In addition to the new AGS, Maruti Suzuki is also expected to offer the car a 5-speed manual transmission.

Safety features in the new car will include dual front airbags, rear parking sensor, ABS and reverse parking sensor among others.
