Maruti also sold 34,305 units of Dzire in September, 2017 - the highest ever monthly sales recorded by the car.
Maruti Suzuki has revealed that the third generation of its Dzire compact sedan has already found 1 lakh homes in India, making it the fastest car in the Indian automotive history to do so. The new Dzire was launched in May 2017.
This is a triumphant moment for the Japanese manufacturer, as the Dzire isn’t particularly a budget car, but has managed to achieve six digit sale figures within six months of its launch. Since last few months, the Dzire has even been outselling the Alto hatchback - which has been India’s best-selling car for approximately a decade. Adding to that, the Alto is much more affordable as well.
On this achievement, R. S. Kalsi, Senior Executive Director (Marketing and Sales) Maruti Suzuki India said, “Indeed, the Dzire has brought an unprecedented disruption in the automobile market. The new Dzire takes the brand to a whole new level – an authentic sedan designed for the young, aspirational and indulgence seeking Indian customer. Built afresh on the HEARTECT platform, the all-New Dzire continues to fulfil the growing aspirations of young and prosperous India. Committed to redefine the market, brand Dzire has not only expanded our share in the entry sedan segment but also expanded the industry size”.
The third generation Maruti Dzire is the first iteration of the compact sedan to drop the Swift prefix, to differentiate it from its hatchback sibling. Everything, except for the powertrains, of the latest Dzire has been updated. The sedan has been built from the ground up and is based on the firm’s new platform – which also underpins the Baleno, Ignis and the upcoming new Swift hatchback. The new model is comparatively lighter as well – the weight of the diesel version has been reduced by over 105kg while petrol gets a cut of 95kg.
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire prices vary from Rs. 5.43 lakh - 9.49 lakh - ex-showroom, Delhi. The car competes with other compact sedans like Hyundai Xcent, VW Ameo, Ford Figo Aspire, Honda Amaze and Tata Zest.
