Maruti Suzuki is set to launch the new-generation Dzire sedan in India soon. Not long ago, the company launched the fourth-generation Swift hatchback with a new Z-series engine as well as tweaks to the exterior and the interior. Now, it is working toward bringing its new sedan to our market. While Maruti Suzuki will launch the updated Dzire in due course, here's what to expect:
Compared to the new Swift, the upcoming sedan is expected to come with an all-new design. Up front, the car could feature a wider grille with horizontal inserts, flanked by slimmer LED headlamps. Also, expect a more sporty front bumper in addition to a fresh set of alloy wheels. At the rear, the updated sedan will likely have redesigned LED taillamps and bumper as well as a boot lid-integrated spoiler. Other expected bits include LED fog lamps and an electric sunroof (segment-first).
New Maruti Suzuki Dzire: Interior
While the specifics of the sedan's interior are vague, we expect a similar cabin design and layout, albeit with different colours. Other expected features include a floating touchscreen infotainment system (with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto), a new console for AC functions, a two-spoke steering wheel, and automatic climate control.
New Maruti Suzuki Dzire: Powertrain
Based on its hatchback sibling, the new Dzire will likely get the same Z series 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine as the Swift. In the Swift, the engine makes 80bhp at 5,700rpm and 112Nm of peak torque at 4,300rpm while being mated to a 5-speed manual and an AMT transmission. The output figures of the sedan are still under wraps.
The upcoming sedan is expected to add a CNG option at a later date. The new Swift recently received a CNG powertrain, making it the first Maruti Suzuki model to get the new Z series engine with a CNG kit. The Swift CNG comes in three variants – VXi, VXi (O) and ZXi – and is priced from Rs 8.20 lakh to Rs 9.20 lakh (ex-showroom).
