A test mule of the Volkswagen's T-Cross SUV, known as the Taigun in India, has spotted testing in the international market. The fresh images of the SUV with a range of mid-life updates have been doing rounds on digital platforms. According to the images, the facelift model will have improvements in design. The upcoming SUV will have a new grille, a revised headlamp design, and more. In terms of features, the facelift model could come with ADAS. There is no official confirmation on its global debut yet, but industry reports reveal that the updated SUV could be showcased in international markets later this year. In India, the redesigned Taigun could arrive in 2024, according to industry rumours. Let's have a quick look at what this updated SUV could get for intended buyers across the world.
Volkswagen T-Cross facelift: Appearance
The spotted SUV in Brazil was camouflaged on the front and rear. However, a few improvements in design were seeable. Outside, the upcoming facelift will feature a reworked grille design with the VW logo slightly above the grille's multiple horizontal slats. The geometry of the headlamps appears to have changed, and Volkswagen's newest IQ headlight technology, an intelligent system that combines lighting control with a camera and sensor to detect incoming traffic, is said to be included with the next T-Cross. It appeared to be similar to the Matrix headlight technology used by Audi.
According to the spy shots, changes have been made to the front bumper, including a redesigned front air dam and fog light inserts that resemble those on the more expensive T-Roc SUV that was offered in India. The rear will feature a small reprofile of the taillamps and a revised bumper. There is no official update yet, but expect similar adjustments for the VW Taigun for India. Minor changes to the dashboard, upholstery, and even the VW Play infotainment system are also anticipated.
Volkswagen T-Cross facelift: Mechanical Details
Mechanically, a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit power the T-Cross SUV, currently available in Brazil. The Taigun, on the other hand, is equipped with 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines in India. These SUVs have the same underpinnings. The carmaker has not disclosed any specific information about the SUV to date. Whether the new SUV will have the reworked engine or not is something only time will tell.
Volkswagen T-Cross facelift: Launch timeline
As mentioned, the Volkswagen T-Cross facelift could globally mark its debut later this year. The carmaker has not provided any information about the SUV yet. However, according to market speculations, the updated Taigun could make it to our market by 2024.
