Nissan India has opened bookings for the automatic version of its Duster derived Terrano SUV. Technically, this isn’t a proper automatic model as the Nissan Terrano automatic like the Renault Duster automatic will come fitted with an automated manual transmission (AMT) which is essentially the same six-speed manual gearbox but with an electro-hydraulic mechanism which automatically changes gear like a traditional automatic gearbox.

The Nissan Terrano automatic will be made available in XVD Premium trim. Prices for the Nissan Terrano AMT models will range between Rs. 13.75 lakh to Rs. 13.85 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. With the launch of the AMT mode, Nissan has also updated the Terrano with 14 new features which include electric folding ORVMs, soft touch plastics, backlit illumination on door switches, new door trim design, one touch turn indicators and automatic warning for emergency braking as standard features across all variants. There is also a new Sandstone Brown shade available for the SUV.

All Nissan Terrano AMT variants will also come fitted with two new safety features –hill hold function (to prevent the car from rolling down an incline as the driver shifts between the brake and accelerator pedal) as well as electronic stability programme (ESP).

The 1.5 litre, four cylinder turbo diesel engine of the Terrano AMT remains the same with 106bhp of max power and 248Nm of peak torque. The ARAI fuel efficiency figure of the new AMT model of the Terrano remains unchanged at 19.1 km/l like the manual model 110PS model of the SUV.

Commenting on the latest addition to the Nissan India vehicle range, Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said, “The Nissan Terrano complements the dynamic lifestyle of today’s spirited Indian consumers. With bold styling, luxurious interior and great driving dynamics, it exemplifies the perfect car for everyday and everywhere. The addition of this new transmission makes the Terrano an even-more compelling choice for buyers looking for a relaxing and comfortable drive.”

Bookings for the Nissan Terrano AMT have opened at Rs. 25,000.
