Mahindra-backed Automobili Pininfarina teases its first product a 1,900bhp hypercar, called the PF0.

As you might already know, the famous Italian coachbuilder and design house, Pininfarina, is all set to produce its own vehicles under ‘Automobili Pininfarina’ brand from 2020. Now while the announcement was made a couple of months ago, the Mahindra-owned design firm has now dropped the teaser of its first product, which is called the PF0.

For starters, it’s an all-electric hypercar, and it will be made in limited numbers – 150, to be precise. If that doesn’t excite you, then you might be interested in what it can do. According to some reports, the all-electric hypercar will push out 1,900bhp and is on course to become the most powerful Italian sports car – Ferrari, Lamborghini and Pagani can, well, go take a hike! Not to mention, it’s also going to be the quickest car in the world, as Pininfarina claims that it’ll do 0 – 100km/h in under 2 seconds! Its top speed will be 402km/h and, if driven sedately, the hypercar will offer a range of around 500km on a full charge.

While Pininfarina has only revealed the rear section of the PFO, it’s confirmed that the hypercar will come with a carbon-fibre body. And since its design is led by Luca Borgogno, who has moved from the brand’s consultancy services to the newly found automobile business, you can bet that it’s going to look otherworldly, once it debuts at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.

As it seems, Automobili Pininfarina will go all guns blazing from the get-go. It’d be interesting to see if they can pull off this ambitious plan. That said, with the company being headed by former Audi India chief, Michael Perschke, along with the financial backing from Mahindra, we think it's entirely possible.
