Production of cars has commenced at Skoda’s Aurangabad facility with reduced man power to maintain social distancing. Work on the India 2.0 Project has also resumed at the company’s Pune facility

While a lot of automobile manufacturers have commenced operations earlier this month, Skoda has only just resumed production at its Aurangabad facility today. The company has received all necessary permissions to open the gates of its facility and kickstart work again. Keeping its employees’ safety in mind, the facility will function with reduced man-power in only a single shift.

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd. has released a 60-point start safe SoP for its employees. The guidelines in this safety manual include mandatory procedures for employees like measuring temperature every morning before they leave for work, mandatory use of face masks at work, and more. Distance markers have been painted on the factory floor to maintain social distancing. Aside from all this, employees are also being encouraged to work from home wherever possible.

Meanwhile, Skoda also confirmed that work on the India 2.0 Project has also commenced at its facility in Chakan, Pune. The Czech carmaker is working on developments for production of their cars based on the MQB A0 IN platform. So far, the company has already showcased the Vision IN concept.

Speaking about the same, Gurpratap Boparai, Managing Director, ŠKODA AUTO Volkswagen India Private Limited said, “The post Covid-19 era will have challenges new and old, however, we need to look ahead with optimism once more. By resuming production we will be in a better position to react to market demands and consumer needs. Over the past few weeks, we have been working closely with the Government, local administration and our medical team to develop a ‘Safe Production and Safe Office concept’ and implemented the same in our operations.”

Skoda is all set to resume the operations with a bang. The company was scheduled to have a slew of launches in April and May, but will now launch three models – the Karoq, Superb face-lift and the Rapid 1.0 TSI on May 26.
