Tata is about to add new automatic gearbox variants to the Nexon's range.
Tata Motors has officially started accepting bookings for the upcoming Nexon AMT for an amount of Rs 11,000. The AMT model will be offered in the top-spec XZA+ trim.
The three driving modes standard on the manual Nexon will also be carried over to the AMT versions. Aesthetically, a new orange-silver dual tone colour option will be exclusively offered on the automatic Nexon.
The automated manual transmission offered on the Tata Nexon is a 6-speed unit - dubbed Hyperdrive S-SG - which is mated to both 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. This makes Nexon the first vehicle in its segment to offer such flexibility. The petrol engine produces 108bhp and 170Nm, while the diesel makes similar power but takes the torque figure up to 260Nm.
The Nexon AMT will come standard with all the equipment seen on the manual XZ+ variant. So, the automatic compact SUV will come loaded with features like floating touchscreen infotainment system with voice command & Android Auto support, reverse camera, projector headlamps, height adjustable driver's seat, height adjustable seatbelts, voice alerts, daytime running lights, alloy wheels, front & rear centre armrests, 60:40 split-folding rear seats, front & rear fog lamps, rear defogger and passive entry with push button start.
Since the bookings have commenced already, we expect the Nexon AMT to launch soon, with its price being around Rs 50,000 - 60,000 dearer to the equivalent manual transmission variant. The Nexon mainly competes with EcoSport and Vitara Brezza in the Indian market.
