the market by launching new models and the pricing of cars in the mass segment has become rather competitive now. And it has to be said that there are some quite good value for money propositions. And the types of cars that are available now are much wider than what was available ever before. Having said that, most of the top ten selling cars in India tend to hold onto their spots or slide a couple of positions down or up. But they are quite constant at remaining in the list of top ten cars being sold in India.

Priced between Rs. 5.08 lakh to Rs. 7.82 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)), the Maruti Swift DZire is now number one among the ten highest selling cars in India with Maruti having sold 23,086 units in July 2015.

The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 has been the country’s highest selling car for years on end. On a few odd months it is overtaken by the Swift DZire and July 2015 happens to be one of those months. Maruti Suzuki sold 22,212 units of the car during July 2015. The Alto 800 is priced between Rs. 2.53 lakh to Rs. 3.69 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki’s Swift has been an ever popular hatchback that has been loved by the market since day one. It is usually the third highest selling car in the country after the Alto 800 and the Swift DZire. In July of 2015, the company sold 18,870 units of the Swift. Prices for the Swift range between Rs. 4.58 lakh to Rs. 7.21 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR is a great value for money offering. It is a very spacious car that makes for a good family vehicle. Combine this with its prices ranging between Rs. 3.71 lakh to Rs. 4.60 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and what you get is strong sales numbers. How strong? Well, Maruti sold 15,540 units of the WagonR in July 2015.

At number five is a car that is not a Maruti for a change. The car in question is the Hyundai Elite i20 that is a well equipped, well built and spacious premium hatchback that has become an instant hit with buyers. 10,031 units of the Hyundai Elite i20 were sold during July 2015. The car is priced between Rs. 5.34 lakh to Rs. 8.28 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Hyundai Grand i10 is very similar to the Elite i20 as a good all around car. It is slotted below the i20 and is a more affordable offering, but is still very well equipped for its price. Hyundai sold 8691 units of the car in July 2015. The grand i10 is priced between Rs. 4.69 lakh to Rs. 6.74 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

At number 7 Maruti makes a comeback to the sales chart with the Celerio. The Celerio was the first car from Maruti to come with an AMT gearbox. Recently the company has also launched a diesel model with its smallest diesel engine. The end result is 7,784 units in sales for July 2015. Prices for the Celerio range between Rs. 3.97 lakh to Rs. 5.78 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Maruti Suzuki Omni has been on sale without much change since the late 1980s! Its affordable price tag ranging between Rs. 2.56 lakh to Rs. 2.58 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) means that there are a lot of takers. Both commercial and passenger versions of the van are available. 7436 units of the Maruti Omni were sold during July 2015.

Hyundai’s recently launched SUV, the Creta has claimed the ninth spot on the sales charts by riding the initial wave of demand for the car. Hyundai sold 6,783 units of the Creta in July 2015. The Hyundai Creta is priced between Rs. 8.60 lakh to Rs. 13.60 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

At number 10 is another new comer, the Honda Jazz. The Honda Jazz is a strong contender in the premium hatchback segment and sold 6,676 units during July 2015. The Honda Jazz is competitively priced against its rivals with prices ranging between Rs. 5.31 lakh to Rs. 8.59 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The top ten selling passenger cars in India are a variety of passenger vehicles. The most affordable ones are naturally the small hatchbacks. But Indians also seem to be quite fond of well equipped cars such as the Hyundai Grand i10 and Elite i20 and Honda Jazz. The newest entrant to the top ten selling cars in India is the Hyundai Creta compact SUV that tickles the senses of this SUV crazy nation.
