Toyota Connect smartphone app is a cloud-based connected service platform that will offer assisted navigation, timely service reminders, online service booking and payment and GPS based road assistance services.

Toyota has launched a smartphone based app for its customers in India. Called Toyota Connect India, the smartphone app will provide existing and new Toyota customers a connectivity platform in regards to vehicle maintenance, mobility and emergency support. The app is available on Android and iOS platforms and can be downloaded for free.

The main highlights of the Toyota Connect India app include Assisted Navigation with 24x7 operator service, Online Service Appointment with ePayment option and GPS based road-side assistance. The interesting bit here is that Toyota has taken the trouble to set up a specialised call centre for this. Like, you can go to the app, press on the assist icon and you’ll be instantly connected to a customer representative, who’ll help you navigate to your destination by setting up the route for you. Also, the app uses its own 3D maps, which can be downloaded for offline use – albeit in this mode you won’t be able to connect to the call centre should you need any guidance.

In addition to this, Toyota will send you service reminders via the app, and you can book periodic maintenance or repair work appointments online. You can also make the payment for that online, while Toyota dealerships will also give you the option to have your vehicle picked up and dropped back to your doorstep. The app will also have DIY or do-it-yourself guides on regular everyday check-ups like checking engine oil or coolant levels, fixing a flat tyre, etc.

Additionally, the app will also have GPS based road-side assistance. In case your Toyota vehicle breaks down – which we think is unlikely to happen given the brand’s reputation –, or there’s any emergency, you can connect to the nearest service centre and they’ll track you and send assistance based on your GPS location.

Although there’s nothing groundbreaking about the Toyota Connect India app, it serves as a one-stop solution and definitely streamlines the process of vehicle maintenance services.
