Sometime towards the end of the 1990s, Toyota entered India with a merger that was called Toyota Kirloskar. Roughly after 18 years of its existence, Toyota has still not able to do anything extraordinary. Yes, it is India’s fourth biggest automobile maker after Maruti, Hyundai and Mahindra, but there is still something that has been missing from the very beginning. It seems that Toyota Kirloskar has finally decided to wake up and try to reshuffle the top few positions in the Indian automobile industry. These are the new cars that Toyota will introduce in the Indian market sometime soon, and claim the third spot.
Toyota Vios
If you look closely at the Toyota line-up, you will realise that there is a huge gap between Corolla and Etios where the Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sit proudly. The Vios is going to be Toyota’s reply to all the Citys and Ciazs of the world. There is little denying the fact that Toyota knows how to design cars. Corolla still remains one of the biggest selling cars worldwide, and the fact that the Vios has been spied testing so often that its launch in near future can’t be ruled out. This car also indicates the fact that Toyota is not focussing on mass-centric cars. In fact, it will try to retain its title as one of the best sedan makers out there in the market.
The New-generation Fortuner
One of the most popular cars from the stable of this Japanese manufacturer will also receive a major facelift and is expected to replace the existing model sometime around the festive season or early next year. According to the spy pictures, the new Fortuner will look pretty ‘new’ thanks to the new grille at the front, new and revised bumper and fog lamps. Not much has been heard or seen from the inside of the car or on the engine options. So, we have our reasons to believe that there might not be anything revolutionary under the bonnet or inside the car, except a few tweaks.
The New-generation Innova
This is a car almost all of us remember fondly. This is the car that changed the word ‘commuting’ in India. Corporates, taxi fleet owners, tour operators, and the who’s who of the world embraced this car with open arms. Such was/is the reliability the Innova carries. So much so that, according to the rumours, there is an Innova that has done 11 lakh kms without a single breakdown. The new-generation of the Innova is long overdue, and the wait is expected to be over sometime soon. Some of the spy pictures confirm that the new Innova will get an all-new front fascia with two chrome slats on the grille, swept-back head-lamps with double-barrel projectors, and integrated LED daytime running lights. The new variant is expected to be lighter and more agile than the current model.
