Volvo has updated its entire product portfolio to meet the upcoming BS-VI norms in one shot. Unlike all other manufacturers, Volvo will not increase the prices of their BS-VI products until 31st March 2020

Following the launch of the XC40 T4 in December, Volvo has now updated its entire product portfolio to meet the upcoming BS-VI emission norms. Volvo currently has five products on sale in India – the XC40, S90, XC60, V90 Cross Country, and the flagship XC90. Interestingly, the Swedish car maker has decided to bear the cost of the BS-VI update till 31st March. Meanwhile, all other carmakers have increased the prices of their products by roughly 3-5% sighting increase in input costs.

Speaking about the same, Charles Frump, Managing Director, Volvo Cars India said, “The transition from BS IV to BS VI has been challenging, especially keeping in mind the industry’s performance in 2019. I am extremely proud of my team and our partners who have been relentless in making sure a smooth shift to BS VI well before the deadline. As a gesture to our customers owning an environment friendly BS VI Volvo Car this financial year, we do not have any price increase for our BS VI certified cars till 31st March 2020”

Volvo recently brought in the XC40 petrol to India in December with a BS-VI compliant 2.0-litre turbo petrol motor. Volvo’s entry-level luxury SUV and the flagship XC90 are the only models to have a petrol option – all other models are only offered with a diesel engine. The Swedish carmaker will expand their product portfolio with the launch of the S60 around mid-2020. When launched, the S60 will compete against the likes of the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the recently launched Jaguar XE.
