As the new month kicks off, automakers have started sharing their sales figures. Maruti Suzuki, maintaining its stronghold as a market leader, reported a 7% increase in total sales. The company sold 1.80 lakh vehicles in April 2025, up from 1.68 lakh units sold in April 2024. Domestic sales remained steady at 1.39 lakh units, showing minimal variance from last year’s 1.38 lakh units. Exports, however, saw a notable jump of 25.95% to 27,911 units.
The entry-level segment comprising the Alto and S-Presso saw a sharp downturn in April 2025, with sales dropping to 6,332 units from 11,519 in the same month last year. In contrast, Maruti Suzuki's compact segment continued to show strong market traction. Popular models such as the Baleno, Swift, WagonR, Dzire, Ignis, and Celerio together saw an uptick in performance, registering 61,591 units—an improvement over the 56,953 units sold in April 2024.
The Ciaz sedan from Maruti Suzuki saw a notable sales slump in April 2025, with just 321 units sold, a sharp drop from 867 units in the same month last year. Despite this setback, the company’s overall passenger car sales held steady at 68,244 units, reflecting a slight dip compared to the previous year.

Maruti Suzuki's utility vehicle segment, comprising models like the Brezza, Fronx, Ertiga, Grand Vitara, Jimny, Invicto, and XL6, demonstrated robust demand with sales increasing to 59,022 units from 56,553. The Eeco van experienced a slight decrease to 11,438 units, while the Super Carry LCV saw positive growth, reaching 3,349 units. The company's total domestic sales, including both passenger and light commercial vehicles, amounted to 1.42 lakh units.

In April 2025, Maruti Suzuki ramped up its OEM supply, dispatching an additional 4,346 units to other manufacturers, including Toyota, compared to April 2024. The OEM shipments grew from 5,481 to 9,827 units. This rise in dispatches contributed to a strong overall performance, pushing the company’s total domestic sales for the month to 1.53 lakh units.
