General Motors India may be fined Rs. 3.4 crore for violating technical specifications to meet emission norms in the manufacturing of the company's people mover - Tavera. It was this violation that led to the recall of 1.14 lakh units of the Tavera

The Government of India had set up a panel headed by Nitin Gokarn, CEO, National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project, to probe into the matter and had said that necessary action will be taken after the findings.
