HMSI Sells 4.22 Lakh Units in February, Registers 7% Decline in Domestic Sales

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) reported total sales of over 4.22 lakh units in February 2025, including 3.84 lakh units in the domestic market and 38,531 units exported. From April 2024 to February 2025, the company’s cumulative sales reached approximately 54.04 lakh units, reflecting steady demand across both segments. In terms of competition, HMSI surpassed Hero MotoCorp in three months: July 2024, August 2024, and February 2025. Hero MotoCorp’s corresponding sales figures were 3.46 lakh units in July, 4.91 lakh units in August, and 3.57 lakh units in February, reinforcing HMSI’s market advantage.

To strengthen its position, the Japanese bikemaker continues to refine its product lineup. Recent updates include OBD2B-compliant versions of the Hornet 2.0 and Shine 125, while the CB200X has been rebranded as the NX200. These updates ensure regulatory compliance while addressing evolving consumer preferences.
OBD2B-compliant Honda Shine, Hornet 2.0: Key Updates
The Honda Shine is available in two variants: the Drum variant, priced at Rs 84,493, and the Disc variant, at Rs 89,245 (ex-showroom). The latest Shine 125 comes with several upgrades, including a fully digital instrument cluster that now displays real-time mileage, range, gear position, service reminders, and an eco-indicator. Additional new features include an idling stop system for improved fuel efficiency and a USB Type-C charging port for added convenience.
Customers can choose from six paint jobs: Pearl Igneous Black, Geny Gray Metallic, Matte Axis Gray Metallic, Rebel Red Metallic, Decent Blue Metallic, and Pearl Siren Blue. Powering the motorcycle is a 123.94cc single-cylinder PGM-Fi engine, producing 11bhp at 7,500rpm and 11Nm of torque at 6,000rpm, paired with a five-speed gearbox.
The updated Hornet 2.0, priced at Rs 1.57 lakh (ex-showroom), features a refreshed design with revised graphics, aligning with Honda’s latest styling updates across its motorcycle lineup. It has an all-LED lighting system and is available in four distinct colour options: Pearl Igneous Black, Radiant Red Metallic, Athletic Blue Metallic, and Mat Axis Gray Metallic. Powering the bike is an 184.40cc single-cylinder, four-stroke engine that complies with OBD2B regulations. It produces a maximum power output of 16.76bhp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 15.7Nm at 6,000rpm, paired with a five-speed gearbox for smooth performance. An Assist & Slipper Clutch is also included.
For added convenience, the 2025 Hornet 2.0 comes with a USB-C charging port and a 4.2-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity via the Honda RoadSync app. This system allows riders to access navigation, receive call alerts, and view SMS notifications.
