Honda Cars India has announced that Takashi Nakajima will be its new President and CEO, starting April 1, 2025. He takes over from Takuya Tsumura, who has concluded his three-year tenure in India and is now set to return to Honda’s headquarters in Japan. Nakajima’s career at Honda spans an impressive 30 years, with experience across various global operations, providing him with a deep understanding of the automotive industry. His background includes key roles in business planning, product development, and sales, showcasing a proven track record of success. Most recently, he served as the President of Honda Motor Russia. Now, as he succeeds Takuya Tsumura, Nakajima is expected to leverage his extensive knowledge and expertise to drive Honda’s growth in the Indian market.

Takuya Tsumura, Honda’s outgoing President and CEO, was instrumental in enhancing the brand's premium image in India. He played a pivotal role in expanding and refining the brand's product portfolio, overseeing the launch of models like the Honda City e:HEV, the Elevate SUV, and the third-generation Amaze.

Tsumura also laid the groundwork for future models, including Honda's first Battery Electric Vehicle in India. Under his leadership, HCIL saw substantial growth in its export business, notably with the Made-in-India Elevate being shipped to Japan.
His emphasis on cutting-edge communication strategies led to successful integrated marketing campaigns aimed at various consumer groups. Tsumura also prioritised operational improvements, implementing initiatives that boosted customer satisfaction and enhanced dealer profitability.
Honda February 2025 Sales
In February 2025, Honda Cars India sold a total of 10,323 units, showing a 21.07% year-on-year (YoY) decrease from 13,078 units sold in the same month the previous year.

The sales in the domestic market reached 5,616 units, reflecting a 21.37% YoY drop from last year’s 7,142 units. Meanwhile, exports stood at 4,707 units, a decline of 20.70% from 5,936 units shipped in the corresponding month last year.
