Hyundai is also preparing to launch an electric SUV in India by 2020.
Hyundai Motor India has revealed that its Sriperumbudur-based manufacturing plant’s production capacity will be increased to 7.50 lakh units from the current seven lakh units by 2019. This will be done through ‘Value Engineering’, without any additional investment.
The Korean company also claims that the Sriperumbudur plant is future ready to meet the safety and emission norms well in advance before their mandatory industry implementation in 2019. Also, the plant is gearing up to produce EVs, keeping up with the Government of India’s vision.

Recently, Hyundai achieved the milestone of becoming the fastest Indian automobile manufacturer to roll out eight millionth car in the shortest span of 19 years 9 months. Moving on, Hyundai aims to roll out 10 million cars by H1 2021. The company claims that its plant is running at ‘almost’ 100 per cent capacity utilisation.
