Mahindra recorded a strong jump in sales after the GST cut, with SUV sales hitting 71,624 units in October 2025, compared to 56,233 in September and 39,399 in August. The upward trend in monthly sales highlights the ripple effect of GST cuts reaching customers. For those unfamiliar with the new GST changes, small cars (petrol models up to 1,200cc and diesel models up to 1,500cc measuring under 4 metres) are now taxed at 18%, down from the previous 28 % plus cess. Larger vehicles, including SUVs and luxury cars, attract a tax of 40 %. The revision in tax slabs has significantly improved affordability, making entry‑level and mid‑segment cars and select SUVs more accessible to a wider range of buyers.
