MG Motor appoints Gaurav Gupta as Chief Commercial Officer

MG Motor India has taken four automobile industry veterans on board.

MG Motor India, a subsidiary of the SAIC Motor Corporation from China, has appointed Gaurav Gupta as Chief Commercial Officer – Customer Experience & Marketing – and has additionally brought three other veterans from the automotive industry on board.

Gaurav Gupta served with Bridgestone Tire Indonesia as President Director. He has 23 years of experience of leading teams in sales, marketing and after-sales in the automotive sector in India, Vietnam, Indonesia and China.

On his appointment, MG Motor India has stated that Gupta will oversee marketing, sales, customer delight and dealer development functions. Gupta is said to spearhead the awareness programme of the brand among Indian buyers prior to their first product launch, which is scheduled for launch in the second quarter of 2019.

Gaurav brings rich industry experience in customer-facing areas, which are critically important for success in India.’ said Rajeev Chaba, President and Managing Director, MG Motor India.

Additionally, MG Motor India has also appointed Rakesh Sidana as National Sales Head, Rajesh Mehrotra as National Service Head and Dimple Mehta to fill in the brand new position of Customer Care & Customer Delight function. Cumulatively, all of these three veterans bring a total of 80 years of experience to the brand.
