Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL) has expanded its production footprint in the country by laying the foundation stone for a new manufacturing plant at IMT Kharkhoda, Haryana. The new facility underscores the brand's commitment to the Indian market and aligns with government efforts to strengthen industrial infrastructure and draw international investment. It will enable the company to scale up production and ensure faster delivery of its products across the country. In addition to operational benefits, the project is expected to contribute positively to the local economy by generating employment in the region. Notably, SMIPL's first plant in Manesar, Haryana, has been a cornerstone of its Indian operations, and the new facility at Kharkhoda will serve as a vital extension, reinforcing the brand’s long-standing commitment to India’s automotive sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kenichi Umeda, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd., said, 'Laying the foundation stone for our second plant in India reflects our focus on not just growing as a brand, but to grow with the people and communities of India. By establishing our facility at IMT Kharkhoda, we look forward to contributing to the region’s development, generating employment, and supporting the government’s vision for industrial progress.'

He also added 'Parallelly, the Kharkhoda plant will help us to serve our customers better, support our dealer partners, and strengthen collaboration with our suppliers. The basic concept of this plant is lean manufacturing. It will also feature modern automation and energy-efficient systems, helping us move towards Suzuki’s global vision for carbon neutrality and Sustainability.'
The new manufacturing facility at Kharkhoda spans 100 acres, with 25 acres dedicated to the production unit and another 25 acres set aside for green spaces, highlighting the company’s commitment to sustainable development.

The state-of-the-art plant, backed by an initial investment of nearly Rs 1,200 crores, is designed to have an annual production capacity of 7.5 lakh units in its first phase. Scheduled to begin operations in 2027, the facility will significantly enhance SMIPL’s manufacturing capabilities in India. Beyond boosting production, the plant is also expected to generate employment for approximately 2,000 people.
