Yamaha has completed 10 years of operations at its Chennai manufacturing facility, which serves as a vital production hub for both domestic and international markets. To mark the occasion, the company announced that it has produced over 50 lakh two-wheelers from this state-of-the-art plant. The milestone unit was the Yamaha Aerox 155 Version S. Yamaha’s Chennai facility has steadily transformed into a key pillar of its global manufacturing footprint. From advanced hybrid scooters like the RayZR 125 Fi and Fascino 125 Fi to the sporty Aerox 155, the plant produces some of the brand’s most in-demand models. Its role extends well beyond India, with exports including the FZ series, Saluto, and Alpha scooters. With more than 30% of its output heading to global markets, the facility exemplifies Yamaha’s growing international presence and high production standards.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Itaru Otani, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of Companies, said, 'The Chennai factory holds strategic importance in Yamaha’s global manufacturing network. Yamaha’s Chennai plant, spread over 177 acres, represents a forward-thinking manufacturing model with 109 acres dedicated to IYM operations and 68 acres allocated to integrated vendor partners. This 'One Factory' approach enables real-time coordination, improving production speed, supply chain efficiency, and operational agility.

The plant supports Yamaha’s premium product roadmap, rolling out high-quality scooters and motorcycles with small to mid-size engines for both domestic and export markets. It features 4450 kW of installed solar power, significantly lowering emissions, along with advanced systems for wastewater recycling, zero-water discharge, and energy-efficient building design.
