Benelli 502C cruiser motorcycle will finally make its India debut on July 29. The middle-weight cruiser will share its most mechanical bits with Benelli’s 500s on sale in the Indian market.

Benelli India will launch its 502C in India tomorrow i.e July 29, 2021. The Benelli 502C is a cruiser motorcycle that will directly rival the Kawasaki Vulcan S. Kawasaki India recently hiked the price of its middle-weight cruiser and the Vulcan S now costs Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Benelli 502C is expected to be a more affordable offering with a price tag between Rs 5-5.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Benelli India commenced the pre-bookings for the same earlier this month for a token amount of Rs 10,000.

With the launch of the Benelli 502C, and the Kawasaki Vulcan S being sure-footed in the segment, will Honda introduce its Rebel 500 cruiser motorcycle in the Indian market via its Big Wing outlets? It is too soon to confirm, but for now, let’s focus on the Benelli 502C.

The 502C gets a 500cc parallel-twin unit that we’ve experienced in the Leoncino 500, and the TRK 502 twins in India. The power output is rated at 47bhp at 8,500 and 46Nm at 6,000rpm. The gearbox is a six-speed unit and Benelli might tweak the final drive ratio of the 502C to suit well to its cruiser characteristics.

Along with the drivetrain, the cycle parts are shared between Benelli’s middle-weight motorcycles. The suspension units are up-side-down forks in the front and a monoshock in the rear, the same units as the Benelli TRK 502 and the Leoncino 500.

Royal Enfield is working on a middle-weight cruiser that is based on the same platform and engine as the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT650. The cruiser from Royal Enfield is expected sometime by the end of this year. The 650cc cruiser from Royal Enfield will have the upper hand in pricing along with a well-rooted service network of the company making a stronger case for itself against the Benelli 502C and the Kawasaki Vulcan S.
