The famous Porsche 911 will be the sole model in the German manufacturer's portfolio powered by a combustion engine when the company's ambitious plan&nbsp;to electrify 80 per cent of its car range by 2030 is fully implemented. Porsche aims&nbsp;to lessen its carbon impact to&nbsp;support&nbsp;electric transportation. Environmentalists have taken notice of the move by the German performance car manufacturer, and they are keeping a careful eye on Porsche's investment in e-fuels and its campaign for the European Union to legalise e-fuel vehicle sales after 2035. The Porsche Macan will be the first model in the lineup to be electrified, followed by the Porsche 718 and the company's best-selling Cayenne. While the company is exploring alternate&nbsp;powertrain options, the popular 911, which represented 13 per cent of sales in 2022, will be manufactured using an internal combustion engine for as long as feasible.

<h2>Porsche Pushing for e-fuels</h2>

Porsche has spent USD 75 million on Highly Innovative Fuels (HIF) over the last several years, but the company's e-fuel aspirations are not connected to its electrification strategy, as claimed by Dums. Aviation and large vehicles are the primary targets of e-fuel research and development. This comes at a time when several corporations have promised large sums to fund the electrification of their product range. E fuels will also be used for high-performance vehicles, with Porsche using it for "lighthouse" initiatives like the Supercup and its customer-facing experience centres.&nbsp;

Ferrari (RACE.MI), like Porsche, sought for an EU e-fuels exemption; however, the exemption has not yet been finalised. Ferrari continues to claim that by 2030, 80% of its vehicles will be electric or hybrid. Many smaller automakers are also interested in catering to the growing market of wealthy consumers who can buy high-end vehicles powered by e-fuel.

Team head for Porsche's e-fuel programme Karl Dums says that the firm plans to electrify the vast majority of its cars, starting with the Macan SUV and moving on to the legendary 718 and the best-selling Cayenne. The German carmaker has set a goal of having EVs make up 80% of total sales by 2030.&nbsp;

During its 75th anniversary celebration, Porsche debuted its newest electric concept car, the Mission X, which demonstrates the company's commitment to electric vehicles. The Mission X is a concept for the German automaker's future lineup of elegant, lightweight, and battery-powered sports automobiles.

Porsche says the batteries will go in the same spot as the engine in a mid-engined hypercar, which is behind the back seats. The 'e-core' design, which is similar to that of the Porsche Mission R, enables a lower floor than would be possible with a conventional battery skateboard chassis and also helps to centralise the bulk of the vehicle, enhancing its handling.&nbsp;

The <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/porsche/" target="_blank">Porsche</a> 718 Cayman GT4 RS has been a huge success in international markets. Frankly, it's not surprising, for it packs the engine from the 911 GT3 in a smaller form factor, trick aero, and has undergone a lot&nbsp;of weight shedding – a sure shot recipe for success if you ask me. Prices for the hardcore 718 GT4 RS start at an eye-watering Rs 2.54 crore, and the optional extras&nbsp;will, of course, have you weeping.

The biggest highlight of the 718 GT4 RS is the 4.0-litre flat-six, sitting right in the middle. It revs to 9,000rpm, makes 493bhp and 450Nm, and is mated only to a PDK automatic. There is no manual on offer because it's an RS model. The 0 to 100km/h sprint time is a fairly quick 3.4 seconds, while the top speed is 315km/h.

One of the key differences between the GT4 and GT4 RS is the aero. The RS gets a big swan-neck wing, similar to what we’ve seen on the 992 GT3, a 30mm lower ride height compared to the standard 718, vents on the front wheel arches and better underbody air management.

The RS has also undergone a lot of weight-shedding&nbsp;– a&nbsp;lot of lightweight materials like carbon fibre and other composites have been used to bring the 718 GT4 RS’ weight down to 1,415kgs – 35kgs less than a PDK-equipped 718 GT4.

At Rs 2.54 crore, the RS is already more expensive than the 911 GT3, and the costs of optional extras further add to it –&nbsp;the Weissach Package costs Rs 32.4 lakh extra, the forged magnesium rims add&nbsp;an additional Rs 30.5 lakh, and the ceramic brakes demand Rs 16.2 lakh more. Want a custom paint job? Well, be prepared to shell out Rs 20.2 lakh.
