autoX Awards 2024:&nbsp;The 2024 TVS Apache RR 310 was one of the few <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/">motorcycles</a> at this year’s jury round specifically engineered for racetrack performance. It found itself in an impressive company comprising the likes of the Aprilia RS 457 and the formidable Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R. Since its launch in 2018, the Apache RR 310 has led the charge in bringing affordable supersports bikes to the Indian market. <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/tvs/">TVS</a> has steadily refined this model, striving to deliver the ultimate value-for-money performance machine. For 2024, the RR 310 receives subtle styling, mechanical, and electronic upgrades. So, does it satisfy your performance cravings?

Along with the styling upgrades, the change that directly affects its performance is the addition of winglets, which, according to TVS, generate 3kg of additional downforce for improved traction. Beyond that, the Apache RR 310 now comes equipped with a comprehensive electronics suite, similar to the RTR 310 package. It also gets Race Tuned Dynamic Stability Control via a 6-axis IMU, bringing features like Cruise Control, Cornering ABS, Cornering Traction Control, Wheelie Control, and Rear-Wheel Lift Off Control. Under the fairing, it packs an updated 312cc single-cylinder engine, delivering 38bhp and 29Nm of peak torque. While the changes are incremental, they result in a slightly more tractable performance across the rev range. For a 300cc single-cylinder, the Apache felt quite lively around a track as big as the BIC.

However, the bike’s handling is what truly impressed the jury members. As mentioned, the new dynamic kit adds adjustable suspension to the mix. Even when pushed to the limits or subjected to sudden body movements, the Apache remains light, predictable, and agile. While higher-capacity motorcycles with premium suspension components may be faster in a controlled track environment, the Apache excels by balancing track capability with real-world usability. It offers accessible power and handling suitable for city streets, providing a thrilling yet less intimidating experience compared to more powerful machines.

However, while the RR 310 feels like a genuine improvement over its predecessor, the presence of machines like the RS 457 and ZX-6R ensured it just missed out on becoming the best of 2024.

autoX Awards 2024: The 2024 TVS Apache RR 310’s handling is what truly impressed the jury members.  The new dynamic kit adds adjustable suspension to the mix. Even when pushed to the limits or subjected to sudden body movements, the Apache remains light, predictable, and agile.

TVS sold 4.89 lakh units overall in the festive month of October 2024,&nbsp;representing a 13% growth from the previous year's 4.35 lakh units. Compared to September of this year, when it sold 4,82,495 units, this was a 1.35% increase.&nbsp;The company saw a 14% increase in the two-wheeler market,&nbsp;with 4.78 lakh units sold.&nbsp;The sales of the 2Ws in the domestic market increased by 13% to 3.90 lakh units. Segment-wise,&nbsp;motorcycles sold 2.30 lakh units in October 2024, compared to&nbsp;2.02 lakh units in the same period last year.&nbsp;This led to a year-on-year rise of 14%. <h2>TVS Sales October 2024</h2>

In October, the company's electric vehicle (EV) sales reached 29,308 units, showing a growth of 45% from the previous year's total of 20,153 units.&nbsp;From 87,952 units sold in October 2023 to 95,708 units sold in October 2024, TVS's exports surged by 9%.&nbsp;However, 2W shipments amounted to 87,670 units, representing a 16% YoY increase.

<h2>Other Highlights</h2>

TVS introduced a new variant of the Raider 125 in India last month to mark the scooter's&nbsp;10-lakh unit sales milestone. Called the&nbsp;iGo, the scooter retails for Rs&nbsp;98,389 (ex-showroom).&nbsp;It includes the iGo assist technology, which provides an acceleration boost and an additional 0.55Nm of torque.

The new TVS Raider iGO is powered by the same 124.8cc single-cylinder air/oil-cooled engine&nbsp;connected to a five-speed gearbox. While the power output stays unchanged at 11.2bhp at 7,500rpm,&nbsp;the torque output is now 11.75Nm at 6,000rpm. According to TVS, the new model will offer 10% more fuel efficiency than the other variants.

The Raider iGo sits between the Split Seat model (Rs 97,704) and the Super Squad Edition (Rs 1.01 lakh)&nbsp;in the range. These are ex-showroom prices. Similar to the Split Seat model, the iGo has an LCD dash with TVS SmartXonnect,&nbsp;which enables customers to access notifications, voice assistance, and turn-by-turn navigation,&nbsp;among other linked capabilities.

At the Madras International Circuit in Chennai, the inaugural TVS ARE GP Cup came to a successful conclusion a few days ago. Last year, TVS Racing initiated&nbsp;this unique event just for Apache customers to allow them to feel the excitement of competing against one another on a racetrack.&nbsp;In addition to receiving a free trip to the Sepang Grand Prix, the winners of each category&nbsp;received a wild-card&nbsp;entry into the TVS OMC RR 310 championship,&nbsp;free participation in select experiential rides and TVS MotoSoul, along with&nbsp;TVS Racing merchandise.&nbsp;

<h2>Selection Rounds</h2>

The selection rounds were held for each of the four championship selection categories: 160cc–180cc, 200cc, and 310cc. For the first time, 48 of the best customers had the chance to experience a safe racing atmosphere on the TVS OMC race-spec&nbsp;Apache RR 310 and&nbsp;Apache RTR 200, giving them a taste of how their motorcycle performs on the race circuit.

Mechanically, the <a href="http://www.autox.com/new-bikes/tvs/apache-rr-310/">Apache RR 310</a> is equipped with a&nbsp;312.22cc liquid-cooled engine that churns out&nbsp;34bhp of maximum power&nbsp;and 27.3Nm of peak torque. The motor is coupled to a six-speed transmission along with a slipper clutch. There are four riding modes on offer&nbsp;- Rain, Urban, Sport and Track.

As part of the manufacturer's attempt to set new standards for rider safety, the TVS ARE GP Cup competitors rode with premium safety gear, such as racing suits with extra chest and back protection and helmets that have received FIM homologation. According to the firm, the international and Indian champion racers from TVS Racing supervised a training program for the participants that improved their understanding of safety on the track and provided insightful information.

In the RR310 category, Rushab Shah clinched the title, followed by Santosh Balakrishnan and Aditya Tentiwala in second and third place, respectively. Coming to the&nbsp;RTR 200 category, Bharath B took the&nbsp;first spot, whereas&nbsp;Pradeep C ended up winning in the RTR 160-180 category.

First-ever TVS ARE GP Cup Successfully Concludes at Madras International Circuit

The TVS ARE GP Cup, which is held across the country, offers Apache owners a chance to take their bikes to the track, feel the rush of racing in a secure setting, and vie for the title of India's Ultimate Racing Championship.

TVS Motor Company, an Indian manufacturer of two-wheelers, has established a distribution partnership with Emil Frey to sell its products into European markets. With the help of the Swiss firm's vast distribution network and in-depth market knowledge, the Hosur-based two-wheeler maker plans to increase its presence in Europe. A lot of the details surrounding this partnership are unknown. However, market reports indicate that TVS two-wheelers would first be distributed to France. The company plans to sell various electric and combustion vehicles under this partnership, including the TVS Jupiter 125, Ntorq, Raider 125, iQube S, TVS X, Ronin, and its flagship Apache RR 310.&nbsp;The automaker hasn't released any details on the products yet. With a few minor adjustments to conform to European standards, TVS items sold in European markets would presumably be the same as those marketed in India.&nbsp;

<h2>TVS and Emil Frey: Some More Highlights&nbsp;</h2>

TVS considers its partnership with Emil Frey as a vital part of its global expansion strategy. According to reports, the company regards Europe as a big market and wants to expand its consumer base by offering innovative products.&nbsp;As mentioned earlier, TVS intends to offer eight two-wheeler models in Europe, featuring electric scooters such as the iQube S and the X. Additionally, it believes that its foray into Europe would increase its exports, which currently generate more than 25% of its total revenue. Notably, the Indian two-wheeler maker currently distributes its products in over 80 countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

<h2>TVS Motors October Sales</h2>

TVS sold 4,34,714 units in October 2023, representing a 21% increase over the previous year's sales of 3,60,288 vehicles. In comparison to the 3,44,630 two-wheelers sold in October 2022, overall two-wheeler dispatches increased by 22% in the last month, reaching 4,20,610 units.&nbsp;Furthermore, the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer experienced a 25% increase in domestic two-wheeler sales, which rose from 2,75,934 units in the same month last year to an astounding 344,957 units in October 2023. In addition, the sales of motorcycles witnessed a significant upswing, rising by 23% to 2,01,965 units from 1,64,568 units during the same period the previous year. Aside from this, the deliveries of scooters increased as well, jumping from 135,190 units in October 2022 to 1,65,135 units last month, showing a 22% increase.&nbsp;Further, the TVS iQube electric scooter proved to be a highly successful model, as seen by its sales, which grew from 8,103 units in October 2022 to 20,153 units in October 2023.

TVS Motor Company to Make European Debut Next Year; Joins Hands with Leading Swiss Distributor Emil Frey

TVS Motor Company has partnered with famous Swiss distributor Emil Frey to distribute its products in European markets. Although the partnership's specifics are under wraps, France is expected to be the first market to get TVS products.

Details are scarce, but expect an announcement to arrive soon.

BMW and <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/tvs/" target="_blank">TVS</a>’ partnership has been a rather fruitful one and has given us sublime motorcycles like the G 310 R and the G 310 GS. Now, it looks like it's time for the fully-faired Apache RR 310 to get a <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/bmw/" target="_blank">BMW</a> derivative, and we can’t wait to see what it looks like!

We don’t know what it will be called just yet, but we suspect that BMW's entry-level faired motorcycle&nbsp;could either be called the G 310 RR or perhaps the S 310 R, taking the ‘S’ nomenclature. But only time will tell what exactly will be the case. What we do know is that it will get the same 312cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine as the Apache RR310, which produces 33.5bhp and 27.3Nm. Expect it to perform similarly as it does in the RR310.

One of the big highlights for this new faired BMW 310 will be its design. Expect it to look very premium and possibly even borrow some cues from bigger bikes like the S 1000 RR, which should give it a lot more appeal. BMW may also endow it with a few unique features to set it apart from the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/tvs/apache-rr-310/" target="_blank">TVS Apache RR 310</a>.

In terms of pricing, expect it to demand a premium over the Apache RR 310’s Rs 2.65 lakh starting price, pushing it, perhaps, closer to the Rs 3 lakh mark, which will put it head to head against the new KTM RC 390, which has a starting price of Rs 3.14 lakh.

BMW Motorrad is reportedly working on its own version of the TVS Apache RR 310. We don't know too much about it yet, but you can expect to see the same mechanicals as the Apache, with a few design changes and possibly new features too.
