Audi, a German luxury car manufacturer, has announced a price hike of up to 2 per cent across all its models in India. Citing rising&nbsp;input and transportation costs, Audi has said that the price hike will be effective from June 1, 2024. Expect the price hike to&nbsp;range between Rs 90,000 and Rs 4.50 lakh, depending on the model.&nbsp;

In an official statement,&nbsp;Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India, said, 'Rising inputs costs are compelling us to increase prices by up to 2% effective June 01, 2024. The price correction aims to ensure sustainable growth for Audi India and our Dealer partners. As always, it's our endeavour that the impact of rising costs is as minimal as possible for our customers.'

This is Audi's&nbsp;second price hike,&nbsp;following an earlier price increase of 2 per cent across the model range from January 1, 2024. Audi India's lineup consists of the&nbsp;A4,&nbsp;A6,&nbsp;A8 L, Q3, Q3 Sportback, Q5, Q7, Q8, S5 Sportback, RS5 Sportback, RS Q8, Q8 50 e-tron, Q8 55 e-tron, Q8 Sportback 50 e-tron, Q8 Sportback 55 e-tron, e-tron GT, and RS e-tron GT.

In other news, Audi India&nbsp;posted&nbsp;an overall growth of 33 per cent in FY23-24, with 7,027 units sold. The growth came 'on the back of a diverse portfolio, which continues to witness&nbsp;strong demand'. Moreover, the company&nbsp;retailed&nbsp;1,046 units in the first quarter of 2024 (January-March),&nbsp;encountering notable challenges with sales compared to the corresponding period last year, primarily due to supply chain disruptions.

What's more, the sales of its pre-owned car division – Audi Approved: Plus – surged by 50 per cent&nbsp;in FY23-24 and 25 per cent&nbsp;in Q1 FY2024 (January to March).&nbsp;The Q8 e-tron was the only new vehicle introduced in FY23-24, which comes in both standard SUV and Sportback coupe versions.&nbsp;The Q8 e-tron's features include a panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable and ventilated seats with massaging functionality, and four-zone climate control.

Audi India to Hike Prices Across Model Range From June 1

Audi India announced a price hike of up to 2 per cent across all its models, citing rising input and transportation costs. The price hike will come into effect from June 1, 2024.

Audi India sold 7,027 luxury cars in FY23-24, representing a 33% increase. Last year at this time, the four-rings brand delivered 5,275 units. It sold 1,046 units in the first quarter of 2024 (January-March), despite supply chain bottlenecks.&nbsp;The sales of the pre-owned car division surged by 50% in FY23-24 and 25% from January to March 2024.&nbsp;The Q8 e-tron was the only new vehicle introduced in FY23-24, which comes in both standard SUV and Sportback coupe versions.&nbsp;The Q8 e-tron's features list includes a panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable and ventilated seats with massaging functionality, and 4-zone climate control.

Sharing his thoughts on the sales,&nbsp;Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India, said&nbsp;"We have seen robust growth of 33% in FY23-24 on the back of a diverse portfolio. Our product portfolio continues to witness strong demand and we are poised to overcome supply challenges. Despite ongoing growth in the luxury market, which is tapering off on the back of record-breaking sales in 2023, we are confident about the industry's potential to exceed 50,000 cars in 2024."

I could wax lyrical about the joys of ice driving – about how it’s a waltz between man-and-machine. A dance that mirrors the one we do every day, one that beats our very beings into shape as we tackle the travails of life.

But I realise that I’m writing for the Internet generation, where attention spans are shaped by 90-second Instagram reels. So, I’ll get straight to the point.

<h2>Why are Audi &amp; Quattro synonymous?</h2>

The fastest cars in the world may be <a href="http://www.autox.com/videos/is-formula-1-dead-discussing-red-bull-dominance-f1s-off-track-controversy-more-autox-podcast-116511/">Formula 1</a> cars but try and take one of them on the daily commute and you’ll find that they’re not entirely usable. So, unless you’re a permanent resident at the BIC (Buddh International Circuit), you’re going to need something a bit more practical – think four seats and a boot. And the fastest machines with that description compete in the World Rally Championship (WRC). The most iconic of those were the Group B monsters of the 1980s. And the most recognisable of those was the Audi Quattro, specifically the pre-Group-B original Quattro. In fact, it changed the sport forever by introducing four-wheel drive to the world of rallying. The Quattro was dominant. Thus, the legend was cemented, and the nomenclature stuck.

Ever since, Audi has been known for its four-wheel drive Quattro technology. This folklore continues and is ever-present in virtually all its models even today. Of course, it goes without saying that, as the surface gets more slippery, the benefit of providing power to all four wheels increases exponentially. And so, in the snow, Quattro is not just a luxury – it’s mandatory!

Our steed of choice on this occasion is the RS4 Avant – the RS4 wagon. And it’s a shame that it’s not available in India, because it’s one hell of a machine. One that packs a massive punch, thanks to its 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 that produces 440 horses and propels this Audi with a big boot to 100km/h in 4.1 seconds flat. And that’s to say nothing of its sheer versatility. After all, it’s a family car and supercar all rolled into one. And then there’s the fact that we were sliding it indiscriminately at minus 25 degrees centigrade for three days straight – with a couple of trips into the snowbank thrown in for good measure – with no complaints whatsoever from this epic machine.&nbsp;

<h2>How do you drive on ice?</h2>

Quattro? Check.

Studded tyres? Check.

You’ll need both for even a modicum of grip on a frozen lake. Frozen river to be exact. The Tornio river that separates Finland from Sweden to be precise. We restricted ourselves to the Finnish side, as we revelled in the winter wonderland that is Lapland.

The <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/audi/">Audi</a> Driving Experience employs a rather skilled tractor driver (cum track designer) who uses his tractor to clear a course on the frozen river. This consists initially of a short oval, which the instructors use to get the uninitiated amongst us familiar with sliding a car on ice. We subsequently progress to longer and tougher tracks over the course of two-and-a-half of the most exhilarating days you’re likely to ever experience.

Not surprisingly, driving on ice is very much like driving on any other surface – which is to say, you need to be smooth and keep your wits about you. If you’ve ever driven on a racetrack – the ones made of asphalt, not solidified water – you’ll understand the principle of ‘slow-in, fast-out,’ which is to say brake before entering a corner, follow the racing line to minimise steering input, and power out to carry speed onto the next straight. The principles of driving on ice are very much the same, with an emphasis on being patient, smooth and even more precise – with the exception being that you’re totally sideways most of the time. And because there’s nothing to hit but soft snow, there’s no fear so you can focus on learning as much about chassis behaviour as possible in a short time.

It’s literally a crash course in – without the crashing – steering input, weight transfer, and the art of looking where you want to go, as opposed to what you’re about to hit. Of course, since you’re sideways, this means you’re looking out of the side window more than the front windshield – but therein lies the fun. There’s simply nothing else like it…&nbsp;

<h2>How can you drive on ice?</h2>

Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India, says that a quarter of Audi India’s sales are to existing customers – which means that they have a very loyal customer base. And so, to return the favour, Audi India curates a number of driving experiences for its owners – in India as well as overseas. The Audi Ice Driving Experience, perhaps, being the most enjoyable. But to secure an invite, you need to have bought a high-performance RS model from Audi, and you need to ask your dealer to put you on the list for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

So, now that you know what to do, and how to do it, my work here is done. And while I can tick this experience off the bucket list, I wouldn’t mind living out my Walter Rohl fantasies anytime Audi India has a vacant spot on the Ice Driving Experience. If drifting an Audi on a frozen river in Lapland sounds exotic, well, that’s because it is. Suffice to say, it’s the most fun you can have with your clothes on – ALL your clothes!

With sales of 19 lakh&nbsp;vehicles worldwide, up 17.4 per cent&nbsp;YoY, including 1.78 lakh&nbsp;electric vehicles, up 51 per cent&nbsp;YoY, German luxury automaker Audi concluded last year&nbsp;on a high note. Over the nine months that ended on December 31, 2023, the company reported an exceptional YoY growth of 93 per cent. With a clear focus on electric mobility, the brand&nbsp;is well-positioned for a transformative year in 2024 thanks to its strong sales performance.&nbsp;It's interesting to note that sales for the luxury car major&nbsp;saw a boost in all markets. On top of that, the world premiere of the Audi Q6 e-tron, which is scheduled for the end of the first quarter of 2024, is anticipated by the firm to be the next significant move.

<h2>Audi Sales Figures</h2>

The company&nbsp;saw strong growth in its main markets of Europe, the United States, and China. Hildegard Wortmann, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing,&nbsp;Audi&nbsp;remarked, "We were able to increase deliveries in 2023 by more than 17 percent. This was made possible thanks to the efforts of our international team and our dealership partners worldwide – thank you for your impressive performance! We saw strong growth, particularly in our core markets of Europe, the USA, and China, while continuing to pick up speed in electrification. We are putting our strategy on the roads and enabling more and more customers to experience it for themselves.”

According to Audi,&nbsp;it&nbsp;was able to better fulfill the growing demand for models across its lineup last year due to an improving supply situation. In addition to the brand's electric models, the Audi Q5 (3.32 lakh&nbsp;units), the Audi A6 (2.67 lakh&nbsp;units), and the Audi A4 (2.37 lakh&nbsp;units) were quite popular.&nbsp;About 48,000 high-performance Audi Sport vehicles were dispatched, a 5 per cent&nbsp;increase from the year before.&nbsp;

The car major delivered&nbsp;over 1.90 lakh&nbsp;cars (19 per cent) in all other global markets in 2023. Strong growth was observed in these markets in Argentina (109 per cent), India (90 per cent), Mexico (32 per cent), and Australia (29 per cent).

Audi Approved: Plus, the pre-owned car business, increased by 62 per cent&nbsp;in 2023. It currently has 25 stores across India and plans to expand even further this year. The SUV range also expanded by 174 per cent. Performance and lifestyle vehicles, including the e-tron series, had a 40 per cent&nbsp;increase.

Audi Delivers Over 19 Lakh Units, Including 1.78 Lakh Electric Vehicles, Globally in CY2023

Audi recently opened India's first ultra-fast charging station in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).&nbsp;This ultra-fast charger, which was designed and developed in partnership with ChargeZone, has a 450kW overall capacity and can supply 360kW of power to an electric car.&nbsp;To ensure optimal performance and efficiency, a 500 amp liquid-cooled gun powers it.&nbsp;It just takes 26 minutes to fully charge the Audi Q8 55 e-tron, which has the biggest passenger car battery in India at 114kWh.&nbsp;In keeping with the firm's emphasis on sustainability, the charging station utilises&nbsp;renewable energy and has a solar panel on top that powers nearby electrical devices, according to Audi. With this, customers of Audi e-tron vehicles now have access to numerous electric car charging partners through a single app thanks to Audi India's rollout of "Charge my Audi" on the myAudiConnect app earlier this year. Customer convenience is increased with the industry-first "Charge my Audi" initiative. The application currently features five charging partners: Aargo EV Smart, Charge Zone, Relux Electric, LionCharge, and Zeon Charging. It is powered by Numocity Technologies' eMSP roaming solution. To improve the comfort of ownership, Audi India has installed more than 140 chargers in 73 Indian cities, including all Audi India dealerships, workshop facilities, and a few dealerships under the SAVWIPL Group brand that are strategically placed along the nation's major highways.

Moreover, customers who purchase an Audi e-tron are eligible for free network-wide charging (apart from Zeon charging) till March next year. They also&nbsp;have access to more than 1,000 charging stations on "Charge my Audi," and more locations will be added in the coming months.&nbsp;While their car is being charged, e-tron owners can unwind in the lounge of the ultra-fast charging "e-tron hub." Staff members with the requisite training will be on hand at the hub, ready to assist with any issues. With the help of the "myAudi Connect" app, people&nbsp;can easily find the ultra-fast charging "e-tron hub" and obtain details regarding it.

The rapid charging infrastructure is pivotal in alleviating concerns about range limitations, ensuring a seamless experience and considerably less charging time. We are not only establishing new benchmarks within the industry but also reinforcing our dedication to the future of sustainable mobility.”

<h2>Audi India to Implement Price Hike from January 2024</h2>

Due to growing input and operating costs, Audi India will raise the pricing of all its models by up to 2% beginning in January.&nbsp;The luxury car manufacturer currently&nbsp;sells the Audi A4, A6, A8 L, Q3, Q3 Sportback, Q5, Q7, Q8, S5 Sportback, RS5 Sportback, RS Q8, and the Q8 50 e-tron, among other cars.&nbsp;The manufacturer has announced the price increase to ensure the brand's and its dealer partners' market expansion. It has, however, committed to minimise the impact of the hike on clients as much as feasible. In a recent development from the firm, the Platinum edition, a limited-edition S5 Sportback, was unveiled in India.&nbsp;It carries an ex-showroom&nbsp;price tag&nbsp;of Rs&nbsp;81.57 lakh&nbsp;and is available in two colours: District Green and Mythos Black. The vehicle is driven by a 3.0-litre TFSI V6 petrol engine that churns out&nbsp;349bhp of maximum power&nbsp;and 500Nm of peak torque.

Audi, ChargeZone Set Up India's First Ultra-Fast Charging Station in Mumbai

According to Audi, the charging station utilises renewable energy and has a solar panel on top that powers nearby electrical devices, in keeping with the firm's emphasis on sustainability. Compatible EVs from other brands will also be able to use the charging station.

Audi India has introduced a new&nbsp;'Charge my Audi' feature on its myAudiConnect application. The feature basically acts as a one-stop destination that helps connect&nbsp;Audi e-tron customers to multiple electric vehicle charging partners through a single app. With this initiative, the company intends to provide e-tron owners a more convenient option to identify charging terminals around them, check the availability of charging terminals, monitor the real-time charging status,&nbsp;start and stop charging their EVs, and pay for the facility using one single payment gateway. In addition, the luxury car maker also allows e-tron customers to enjoy complimentary EV charging across the network until August 2023.&nbsp;

The 'Charge my Audi' feature eliminates the need for e-tron owners to download multiple applications in order to charge their electric vehicles. The 'myAudiConnect', which also handles automated identification and billing procedures simultaneously, is claimed to allow users&nbsp;to initiate an EV charging session directly. The application as of now offers 5 charging solution providers, including&nbsp;Aargo EV Smart, Charge Zone, Relux Electric, LionCharge, and Zeon Charging.

And, over 750 charge points are currently available for&nbsp;Audi e-tron owners on Charge my Audi, with the company planning to add more over the coming months. In the Indian market, the brand's EV lineup includes the&nbsp;e-tron 50,&nbsp;e-tron 55, e-tron Sportback 55, e-tron GT, and the RS e-tron GT, with Audi planning to launch the new&nbsp;Q8 e-tron&nbsp;in India later this year.&nbsp;

<h2>Audi e-tron Electric Crossover SUV</h2>

The e-tron is the company's first-ever all-electric mass-production car. It was supposed to be launched in India in 2019, but the launch was deferred by nearly two years. It is an electric crossover SUV, which made its India debut in three variants: the e-tron 50, the e-tron 55, and the e-tron Sportback 55. The SUV has a claimed range of up to 484 kilometre.&nbsp;All its variants come equipped with permanent all-wheel drive, adaptive air suspension,&nbsp;four-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof.

In addition, the electric SUV&nbsp;gets&nbsp;digital matrix LED headlamps with animated projections, 16 speaker Bang &amp; Olufsen 3D surround sound system, an air quality package with an air ionizer, and a fragrance dispenser.

<h2>Hyundai &amp; Shell Partner&nbsp;to Install DC Fast Chargers</h2>

In order to promote the adoption of electric vehicles, several EV charging infrastructure and solution providers are expanding their network in India. One such example is that of the collaboration between&nbsp;Hyundai Motor India and&nbsp;Shell India&nbsp;Markets Private Limited. Recently, they signed&nbsp;a&nbsp;Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to enhance the&nbsp;end-to-end EV (electric vehicle) charging infrastructure in India and help encourage more people to switch to EVs. As part of the agreement,&nbsp;60kW DC fast chargers will be installed at 36 of Hyundai's EV dealerships&nbsp;in India.&nbsp;

Audi India Launches Free Charging for e-Tron Customers Across India till August

With a new initiative, Audi India strives to provide e-tron owners a more convenient option to identify charging terminals, check the availability of charging terminals, monitor the real-time charging status, start and stop charging their EVs, and pay using one single payment gateway.

Audi India has begun local production of the Q3 and Q3 Sportback. According to the luxury carmaker, these cars will now be produced locally at the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd., (SAVWIPL) plant in Aurangabad, India. For propulsion, both the Audi Q3 and the Q3 Sportback use the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, which produces 190bhp and 320Nm. The engine comes paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Further, these models have Audi's Quattro AWD as standard.&nbsp;Speaking of localisation, there is no official confirmation that whether the prices of these models will change for the Indian market or not. The current starting price for the Q3 is Rs 44.89 lakh, while the introductory cost of the Q3 Sportback is Rs 51.43 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. In a recent development, Audi announced a 1.6% price increase, effective from May 1 on these cars. The luxury automaker also reported a 2.4% price hike on a few other models. Audi India attributed the increase to higher input costs and customs duties.&nbsp;

Audi Approved: plus pre-owned vehicle division in India is growing, according to the firm. It&nbsp;saw a 50% increase in sales during this quarter. There are five exterior colour options – Navarra Blue, Turbo Blue, Glacier White, Chronos Grey, and Mythos Black – and two interior colour options – Pearl Beige and Okapi Brown – available for the Audi Q3 Sportback. The Sportback gets a sloping roofline, a coupe-like body design, a honeycomb pattern grille, and blacked-out exterior components. Additionally, it gets split LED taillamps and LED headlamps with DRLs, along with 18-inch 5-spoke V-style alloy wheels.
