Bajaj Auto witnessed impressive year-on-year growth in both local and foreign markets in February 2024.&nbsp;In contrast to the 1,20,335 vehicles sold in February 2023, the manufacturer supplied 1,70,527 2Ws in the domestic market last month, representing a year-on-year growth of 42%.&nbsp;The international shipments of the two-wheelers reached 1,24,157 units this February, as opposed to 1,15,021 units the previous year. This led to a year-over-year increase of 8%. Overall, Bajaj delivered 2,94,684 2Ws in February of this year, which is a 25% increase over 2,35,356 units sold in the same time a year ago. Bajaj Auto is all set to launch its two much-awaited models – the 2024 NS200 and the 2024 NS160. Despite being in the market for a long time, the NS Pulsar range has been selling well. The Indian bikemaker has already unveiled the 2024 updated versions of both bikes on its social media platforms. The updated bikes will feature a few tech additions to bring them on par with the competition in their respective categories. 2024 Bajaj Pulsar NS200, NS160: Latest Updates

The 2024 iterations of the motorcycles will feature LED headlamps with LED daytime running lamps as standard. The Pulsar NS200 and the NS160 initially lagged behind their competitors, given that they featured halogen headlights. However, the upgraded lighting configuration will make them more comparable with the competition. 

Another upgrade is the introduction of the new digital instrument cluster, which debuted with <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/bike-news/2024-bajaj-pulsar-n150-n160-launched-in-india-get-bluetooth-enabled-digital-display-116082/">the Pulsar N160 and the N150</a>. A button on the left switch gear will control the blacked-out instrument cluster, included with the new digital display. The new digital instrument cluster will also display important details such as the gear position indication, instantaneous fuel economy, distance to empty, average fuel economy, and time, along with the standard trip meter, odometer, speedometer, turn-by-turn navigation, and fuel gauge will also be there.

The analogue tachometer of the previous models has now been replaced with a new horizontally oriented digital unit. Riders can use the Bjaja Ride Connect app to connect their smartphones to the bike, which will allow them the option to accept or reject a call while on the go. Additionally, the bikes will also feature a USB port for charging mobile devices.

Apart from these technological changes, both bikes retain their overall design. All four components – the USD fork, mono-shock, bodywork, and chassis – remain the same. For clarification, the NS200 comes with USD forks up front and a mono-shock at the rear as standard. It gets disc brakes at both ends and 17-inch alloy wheels.

2024 Bajaj Pulsar NS200, NS160: Mechanical Specifications

The revised Pulsar NS200 is powered by the same 199.5cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled unit, which produces 18.74Nm of peak torque and 24.16bhp of maximum power and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. Meanwhile, the 160.03cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that powers the NS160 churns out 17.03bhp of peak power and 14.6Nm of torque. Both units are E20-compliant. 

2024 Bajaj Pulsar NS200, NS160: Competition Check

The Bajaj Pulsar NS200 rivals the KTM 200 Duke and the Honda Hornet 2.0 in the Indian market, while the Pulsar NS160 competes with the likes of the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and the Yamaha MT-15 V2. 

Although Bajaj Auto has not yet disclosed the prices of the revised models, they are likely to get a small price hike, given the upgrades.

In the domestic market, <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/industry-news/bajaj-auto-records-31-year-on-year-total-domestic-sales-growth-in-january-116075/">Bajaj Auto sold 2.30 lakh units (2Ws and CVs)</a>, registering a 31 per cent increase over the same period last year. The company also recorded export sales of 1.26 lakh vehicles – a 12 per cent increase from 1.13 lakh models exported in January 2023. In terms of segment sales, Bajaj's local two-wheeler deliveries increased by 36 per cent year on year to 1.93 lakh units in January 2024 from 1.42 lakh units in the previous year. The manufacturer dispatched 1.15 lakh 2Ws abroad, representing a 14 per cent increase over the previous year. Overall, two-wheeler sales totalled 3.08 lakh units in January this year, representing a 27 per cent increase over the same month in 2023.

For its Pulsar NS line models, the Pulsar NS200 and the Pulsar NS160, Indian bikemaker Bajaj Auto has begun rolling out a new colour option. These bikes in the roadster category, which compete with models like the Apache RTR 200 4V and the Apache RTR 160 4V, will now come in a new red colour scheme. The new paint choice will be added to the current palette, which already includes the shades, Ebony Black and Pearl Metallic White. The NS lineup has been a tad dated lately; the NS200 debuted in 2012, more than ten years ago, and has only seen slight modifications since. As mentioned before, the mechanical specifications are the same as in earlier iterations. Thus, the 160.3cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine that continues to produce 17bhp of maximum power at 9,000rpm and a peak torque of 14.6Nm at 7,250rpm is retained in the 2023 Bajaj Pulsar NS160. On the other hand, the 199cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-valve, and three-spark plug motor is still present in the NS200. This engine, which is coupled to a six-speed gearbox, has a maximum output of 24.1bhp at 9,750rpm and a peak torque of 18.7Nm at 8000rpm.

The much-anticipated Pulsar NS160 and NS200 motorcycles have been introduced in India at Rs 1.35 lakh and Rs 1.47 lakh, respectively (all prices, ex-showroom). Both motorcycles come with a range of updates over the previous models.

After being spotted on test multiple times, the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/bajaj/" target="_blank">Bajaj</a> Pulsar N160 has been finally launched, with prices starting from Rs 1.23 lakh for the single-channel ABS variant. At Rs 1.28 lakh, buyers can go for the dual-channel ABS variant&nbsp;– it is the first bike in its class to offer this feature. The N160 gets the same starting price as the NS160, which is still on sale and&nbsp;is available only in a single variant. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

The single-channel variant of the N160 is available in three colour options&nbsp;– Caribbean Blue, Racing Red, and Techno Grey&nbsp;– while&nbsp;the dual-channel ABS variant is available exclusively in Brooklyn Black.

What separates it from the NS160? In simple words, the NS160 is a downsized version of the NS200, and the new N160 is a downsized version of the N250. And as readers will know, the <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/bike-news/bajaj-pulsar-n250-f250-launched-rs-138-lakh-onwards-110232/">N250 and F250 (launched in October 2021)</a> are all-new bikes –&nbsp;the first-ever quarter-litre Pulsar models.

Much like the N250, the N160 gets a bi-functional LED projector headlamp, flanked by the brand's signature 'naked wolf' LED DRLs. The taillight is also an LED unit, but the indicators are regular bulbs. It also borrows its&nbsp;split-seat, 14-litre fuel tank, tank extensions, and 17-inch alloy wheels&nbsp;from the N250.

Since the N160 is built on the same chassis as the 250cc Pulsars, the bike gets the same frame and nitrox monoshock. However, the&nbsp;single-channel ABS variant makes do with a 31mm telescopic fork and a 280mm disc at the front, while the dual-channel variant gets a bigger 37mm fork and a 300mm disc. The 230mm rear disc is the same on both variants.&nbsp;There's one big difference&nbsp;between the N siblings – the N160 gets a new underbelly exhaust, while&nbsp;the N250 gets a conventional side-slung&nbsp;unit.

Powering the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/bajaj/pulsar-n160/" target="_blank">Pulsar N160</a> is an all-new 164.82cc oil-cooled twin spark DTS-i engine, which develops 15.7bhp and 14.65Nm of torque. The power figure is slightly lower than that of the NS160 (17bhp), but the torque output is the same.

In terms of competition, the Pulsar N160 will lock horns with the&nbsp;Yamaha FZ-S, <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/tvs/apache-rtr-160-4v/" target="_blank">TVS Apache RTR 160 4V</a>,&nbsp;Hero Xtreme 160R, <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/suzuki/gixxer/" target="_blank">Suzuki Gixxer</a>, and&nbsp;Honda X-Blade.

They say great products sell themselves. Such has been the case with the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/bajaj/pulsar-150/">Bajaj Pulsar 150</a>. Although it’s been a long time since it got a generation change, the Pulsar 150 continues to be the best-selling motorcycle in its class. And why shouldn’t it, with the kind of chirpy performance and cheap price tag it comes with. But since the time this current generation Pulsar 150 was launched, the 150cc segment has split into sub-categories. From being the preferred choice of wheels, the Pulsar 150’s conventional design no longer appeals to the younger generation as it used to. The youth of today, want something more stylish, something that is more out there. <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/bajaj/">Bajaj</a> had been missing a product in this sub-segment until they brought in the Bajaj Pulsar NS160&nbsp;earlier this month.

In terms of design, the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 looks identical to its larger displacement sibling. Right from the headlight, large tank, split seat as well as the rear section, everything has been borrowed from the NS200. However, look closely and you will start noticing the differences – narrower front forks, skinny tyres and a new swing arm. Being liquid-cooled the NS200 has a radiator at the front which is replaced by a small oil cooler in the NS160. The only odd bit on the Bajaj Pulsar NS160&nbsp;is the saree guard. While its ‘grille’ is fitted around the swing arm, the foot rest is fitted in the traditional manner. We sure couldn’t test its functionality, but it does look unusual. The NS160 also comes with all the features that are typical of the class – and that includes a front disc brake, semi-digital instrumentation, and alloy wheels.

At the heart, the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 gets a 160.3cc single-cylinder engine that produces 15.4bhp and 14.6Nm. First things first, this isn’t an all new engine – it is a heavily worked upon version of the Discover 150 and AS150 engine. Despite the fact the it tips the scale at 142kg (heaviest in class), the performance is impressive. The engine revs briskly and you don’t quite feel any vibrations until you cross the 6,500rpm mark. It isn’t as smooth as the Suzuki Gixxer or even the Yamaha FZ for that matter, but thankfully the vibrations aren’t bothersome. The beauty of the engine though, is in its adaptability. Its rev happy nature, promises an engaging ride but at the same time short first and second gears allow you to trundle in town effortlessly at speeds of 30km/h in fourth. The five-speed gearbox is smooth for the most part but it isn’t the most precise one out there.

Another aspect where the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 really stood out is its ride quality. Bajaj says that they have intentionally softened the suspension in comparison to the NS200. While we won’t call it soft, but it isn’t firm either. In fact, it finds the right balance of the two which helps it in tackling bad roads and corners with equal aplomb. The rain Gods weren’t quite kind to us during our ride due to which we couldn’t push the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 to its limit. The little that we did, the MRF tyres gripped well and the bike felt stable. To perform braking duties the NS160 has been fitted with a 240mm disc up front and a 130mm drum setup at the back. While some of the competitors offer a disc brake option at the back but considering that the disc-drum combo performs brilliantly for the NS160, you won’t quite feel the need for a rear disc.

What Bajaj has managed to achieve with the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is truly remarkable. From offering a comfortable ride to peppy performance, it does most things right. Priced at Rs 78, 368, it sits right in the middle of the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/suzuki/gixxer/">Suzuki Gixxer</a> and the marginally more expensive Yamaha FZ-S FI. Although Bajaj has taken their time to bring in a product in this segment, it must be said that they have managed quite a wholesome package.

Bajaj Pulsar NS160 Review: First Ride

It looks identical to its bigger sibling, and it performs better than the Pulsar 150. The Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is the Chakan-based bike maker's latest entrant in a segment populated by Suzuki Gixxer and CB Hornet 160R.

Bajaj has silently launched the smaller Pulsar NS160 in India. The home-grown manufacturer has started dispatching the motorcycle to select dealerships across the country. While bookings are now open for the motorcycle, Bajaj hasn’t officially revealed the price of the Pulsar NS160 as yet. The company is expected to announce the price of the Pulsar NS160 early in July once the GST comes into effect. That said, one of the dealers in Mumbai quoted the motorcycle is priced at Rs 93,000 (on-road).

The Bajaj NS160 has already been on sale in export markets like Turkey and Nepal. The NS160 is powered by a 160cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine that develops 15.3bhp at 8,000rpm along with 14.6Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. The engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox.

As for the other stuff, the NS160 is based around the bigger NS200, meaning it gets the same steel perimeter frame, headlight, instrument cluster, fuel tank, split seats, and tail light from the bigger brother. It also retains the front fork setup and rear mono-shock from the NS200. However, to differentiate it from NS200, the NS160 comes with thinner tyres while it also gets smaller brake disc at the front (240mm). The rear wheel comes with a 130mm drum type brake setup. While dimensions are going to be more or less the same as the NS200, the NS160 will be around 10 kilos lighter than its elder sibling.

The <a href="https://www.autox.com/reviews/bike-reviews/bajaj-pulsar-ns160-review-first-ride/">Bajaj Pulsar NS160</a> will sit above the Pulsar 150 and 180 models in the company’s line-up. Now, while it’s less powerful than the Pulsar 180, the NS160 will be offered as a more premium offering, taking the fight with the likes of the Yamaha FZ-Fi V2.0, Suzuki Gixxer, Honda CB160 Hornet and <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/bike-news/new-tvs-apache-rtr-160-launch-on-march-14-103329/">TVS Apache RTR 160</a>.
