<p>SAIC, Baojun and&nbsp;MG Motor India's parent company, has recently filed a design patent for its micro-SUV in India, called the Yep –&nbsp;a compact electric SUV based on the&nbsp;Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV) platform, which also underpins the MG Comet EV. The Yep made its global debut at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show in China, with a boxy design&nbsp;similar to conventional sports utility vehicles. Judging by the patent image, the rebadged version of the Baojun Yep will look largely&nbsp;similar to the China-spec unit, with the exception of the&nbsp;MG badges at both ends. Such a practice&nbsp;is not&nbsp;uncommon for MG Motor, as for its second electric model in India,&nbsp;the Comet, it heavily borrowed from its sister company. For those unaware, the MG Comet EV looks&nbsp;almost identical to the Wuling Air EV available in China and other markets. The only difference is that the India-spec Comet gets body-coloured bumpers, unlike the dual-tone bumpers with black inserts of the China-spec model.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<h2>MG Baojun Yep EV: Dimensions</h2>

<p>Dimensionally, the&nbsp;Baojun Yep is&nbsp;3,381mm in length, 1,685mm in width,&nbsp;and 1,721mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,110mm. The Yep will sit above the Comet, which is 81mm shorter and 407mm smaller than the Yep.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>MG Baojun Yep EV: Battery, Range</h2>

<p>Powering the&nbsp;Baojun Yep EV is a 28.1kWh lithium-ion battery, which offers a claimed range of up to 303km (CLTC). The battery can be charged from 30 to 80 per cent in 35 minutes (claimed) via a DC fast charger. Whereas, the car takes 8.5 hours to be charged from 20 to 80 per cent using a DC charger.&nbsp;The SUV's&nbsp;single electric motor on the rear axle cranks out 67bhp and 140Nm of peak torque, while the car&nbsp;can reach a top speed of 100km/h. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The power and range figures of the car have not been revealed yet for the Indian market, but they are expected to differ&nbsp;from those of the Chinese model.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>MG Baojun Yep EV: Exterior, Interior Details</h2>

<p>The exterior of the&nbsp;China-spec Yep is defined by simple square LED headlamps, a rugged bumper design, quad-LED daytime running lights, chunky wheel arches with 15-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, plastic cladding on its lower half, an optional LED display at the tailgate, etc.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Inside, we find that the Yep is a retro-themed electric vehicle that seats 4 people. It features a three-spoke steering wheel, a few switches for AC controls, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, heated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver's seat, a rear-view camera, ADAS functionalities, and more.&nbsp;</p>
