Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing won his sixth consecutive race in the 2023 British Grand Prix, and the event did not disappoint in terms of drama. The Silverstone race victory was the first for the Dutchman, and his team's 11 straight victories tied them with McLaren for the most in F1 history. However, he was immediately under fire as Lando Norris jumped out to an early lead in the Grand Prix, thrilling the sold-out crowd at Silverstone. The local favorite hung on for many laps, but in the end, Verstappen regained the lead and crossed the finish line first. Norris finished second, matching his best finish ever, while Lewis Hamilton, who benefited from a late safety car, completed the podium. In addition to being the first time two British drivers have finished on the podium at Silverstone since 1999,

Because of the penalty he received for the collision, Stroll finished the race in 14th place, behind Esteban Ocon, who also had to withdraw from the race due to mechanical problems with his Alpine. Protesters threatened to interrupt the on-track action, but the grid was well-secured thanks to the presence of F1 officials and police officers watching the grandstands down the pit straight and across Silverstone's Wing complex.

Not only did it not rain after an initial mist, but the issue of track limits came up again at the end of the race when Norris and Russell were among the drivers who sent black-and-white flag signals for running too wide, especially at Copse and Stowe.

<h2>McLaren's turnaround: Lando Norris Finishes P2 at British Grand Prix</h2>

Despite (or maybe because of) Verstappen's dominance in yet another race, McLaren was able to steal the show with a thrilling 2-3 in qualifying, which Lando Norris turned into his first podium of the season. The last time McLaren had a result of this magnitude was when Daniel Ricciardo won the Italian Grand Prix in 2021.

Just 10 races into his Formula One career, Piastri was on the verge of his first podium. The Ferrari power unit installed into Kevin Magnussen's Haas vehicle burst into flames at the end of the Wellington straight on lap 32, which is an unorthodox measurement of time but made the difference for him. Piastri had already made his one and only pit stop two laps earlier, but his main rivals, including Verstappen, Norris, and Hamilton, were yet to do so.

The ensuing safety car provided them with discounted pit stops. It prevented Piastri from challenging Norris for second place and moved Hamilton up to third. His effort, from his struggle with Verstappen on the first lap to his defensive ahead of George Russell and his late but unsuccessful push on Hamilton as the Briton's tyres expired, was more than deserving of a trophy, but he came up short.

Norris' McLaren teammate and Oscar Piastri finished fourth, his best racing performance so far. Silverstone provided the customary high level of excitement, with top-10 finishes from George Russell, Sergio Perez, Fernando Alonso, Alex Albon, Charles Leclerc, and Carlos Sainz.
