autoX Awards 2023: The Mercedes-Benz EQB fared much better in our test than what most of us were expecting. I, for one, became a fan when we tried to push this EV to its limits. Surprisingly, this seemingly sensible family electric car delivered thrilling performance, securing a spot among the top five fastest lap times recorded this year. While one would expect the likes of the Porsche Cayenne and Lamborghini Urus Performante to make the list, the EQB’s presence is a testament to the potential of not only the AMG Mercedes but also the EQ range.

Powered by an asynchronous motor at the front and a permanent synchronous motor at the rear, the EQB 350 4Matic produces a total of 288bhp and a massive 520Nm of torque. According to Mercedes, the car is capable of going from 0 to 100km/h in a matter of just 6.2 seconds and has a top speed of 160km/h. However, it isn’t just the raw power of the drivetrain – it scored a perfect 5 – that sets the EQB apart but also the way this car handles all that power.

The <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/mercedes-benz/eqb/">Mercedes-Benz EQB</a> also does well in terms of practicality and embodies the quintessential Mercedes-Benz craftsmanship, characterised by the use of high-quality materials throughout. That said, its design leaves a bit more to be desired. While it’s not bad in any sense of the term, it isn’t exemplary either. And a car of this calibre warrants the modern Mercedes treatment, like other cars in the EQ range. The interior tells a similar story. While it has a well-built and practical cabin, perfectly adequate for your needs, we couldn’t help but feel that this spectacular car could do with a bit more oomph.

However, let’s not forget that the EQB is supposed to be the B-class equivalent of electric cars in the Mercedes-Benz line-up. And if I remember correctly, that latter is also a car that appeals more to the head than the heart.

autoX Awards 2023: The Mercedes-Benz EQB fared much better in our test than what most of us were expecting. I, for one, became a fan when we tried to push this EV to its limits. Surprisingly, this seemingly sensible family electric car secured a spot among the top five fastest laps.

Alongside the entry-level&nbsp;electric compact crossover – the 2024 EQA,&nbsp;Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the facelifted version of the EQB for the international market. The EQB electric is positioned in the B-class of Mercedes-Benz cars and is an all-electric variant of the GLB. Overseas, the 2024 version of the EQB sports&nbsp;minor changes to the exterior &amp;&nbsp;interior&nbsp;and gets upgraded technology as well as several new features. While Mercedes-Benz has not disclosed details about when it plans to bring the updated EQB to the home market, it has confirmed that the EQB will go on sale in the US market in the first half of 2024. However,&nbsp;the EQB 350 4Matic electric SUV is already available in India&nbsp;at a starting price of Rs. 77.50 lakhs (ex-showroom). Although it replaced the 300 4Matic model, the&nbsp;updated EQB 350 4Matic comes&nbsp;equipped with the same 66.5 kWh battery pack as its predecessor and&nbsp;generates 288bhp &amp;&nbsp;520Nm of peak torque.&nbsp;

Coming back to the 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB, the standard equipment of the&nbsp;refreshed model includes&nbsp;a specially designed black panel with the brand's signature star pattern&nbsp;and a 10.25-inch central touchscreen running a new generation of the MBUX infotainment system.&nbsp;&nbsp;

<h2>2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB: Exterior</h2>

Exterior-wise, the 2024 version now dons a new black panel, redesigned LED lights at the rear, a light bar connecting DRLs, and a newly designed bumper. Apart from this, the EQB remains more or less the same. But, as part of customisation, customers can configure their vehicle specifications, as they get to choose from new colour schemes and alloy wheel options.&nbsp;

<h2>2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB: Interior, Tech Features</h2>

Inside, the EQB boasts a new steering wheel with touch control panels, a 10.25-inch infotainment system &amp;&nbsp;seating for five&nbsp;as standard, a new mono-multipurpose camera, a new backup camera, and updated driving assistance systems. The car's active lane keep assist is said to work with steering intervention instead of ESP.&nbsp;The driver can also alter the layout of the displays with 3 display styles&nbsp;(Subtle, Sporty, and Classic) and three modes (Navigation, Assistance, and Service). The voice control function offered with the MBUX has also been improved.&nbsp;

Moreover, the EQB has a plug-and-charge function, enabling drivers to charge up the battery&nbsp;by just plugging in the charging cable. For this, customers do not need to authenticate themselves or feed in details on the charger screen. A separate charging contract with a selected third-party provider is required through which the payment and invoicing of the charging processes can take place.&nbsp;

<h2>2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB: Optional Bits</h2>

Optional bits of the vehicle include two Sound Experiences, which are computer-generated sounds that work in conjunction with the Burmester surround sound system. Also, two additional&nbsp;Sound Experiences can be bought and activated online via the Mercedes me store. There is also a Dolby Atmos surround sound system, claiming to allow listeners to hear music almost as clearly as the original vision of the artists in the studio. Besides, this&nbsp;model also&nbsp;comes in a seven-seater layout&nbsp;as an option, measuring&nbsp;4,684mm in length, 1,834mm in width, and 1,664mm in height.&nbsp;

<h2>2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB: Powertrain</h2>

Underneath the skin, the front-wheel-drive version comes powered by an electric motor that churns out 185bhp, while the 4Matic version gets two electric motors – one on each axle, making 284bhp. The battery is a 70.5kWh unit.&nbsp;

The new&nbsp;Mercedes-Benz EQB is offered in three variants – EQB 250+, EQB 300 4Matic, and EQB 350 4Matic, all supporting DC fast charging and&nbsp;AC charging at up to 100kW and 9.6kW, respectively.

In December 2022, six new SUVs from manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz will be launched across&nbsp;various segments.

There have been a lot of new car launches and significant unveilings in the Indian automotive industry this year, but things are only continuing to pick up&nbsp;the&nbsp;pace. With many more cars and SUVs scheduled to either be launched or at least be revealed, the month of December will definitely be crucial for the Indian auto sector. So without further ado, let's take a look at the upcoming car launches for December 2022.&nbsp;

1.&nbsp;Mercedes-Benz EQB

Mercedes-Benz is among the first luxury automakers to introduce electric vehicles. The EQC and EQS models have already been introduced in India by the German manufacturer. The upcoming <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/mercedes-benz/eqb/">EQB </a>will be the portfolio's latest addition and is slated to launch on December 2. The Mercedes-Benz EQB features a blanked-off front grill, slim LED headlamps, and a full-width LED tail light in the rear.&nbsp;The EQB, which is basically&nbsp;an electric version of the GLB three-row SUV, will be driven by a 66.5kWh battery pack that produces 225bhp and 390Nm of torque. Further, the variant, which will be offered with both AC and DC charging, has a WLTP range of 423 kilometres.

2.&nbsp;Mercedes-Benz GLB

Mercedes-Benz is also gearing up to introduce its<a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/mercedes-benz/glb/"> GLB SUV</a> in India on December 2, 2022. The car, which is scheduled to arrive in the country as a Completely Built Unit (CBY) from Mexico, will be the second seven-seater model after the GLS. It also has a bulky look that promises a powerful road presence.&nbsp;The Mercedes-Benz GLB will be available with a 1.3-litre petrol engine producing 161bhp and 250Nm of torque, as well as a 2.0-litre diesel engine delivering 188bhp and 400Nm of torque. These engines will be paired with 7-speed and 8-speed automatic transmissions, respectively.

3.&nbsp;BMW XM

BMW officially revealed the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/bmw/xm/">XM SUV</a> on a global scale just&nbsp;recently. Now, the SUV is set for an Indian launch&nbsp;on December 10. With several exterior alterations such as an illuminated front grille, a split headlight cluster, and vertically positioned exhaust pipes, the XM sets itself apart from the standard X7. It will have an eight-speed automated transmission and a V8 PHEV engine with 644bhp of maximum power&nbsp;and 800Nm of torque. Additionally, it also includes&nbsp;a special EV mode.

4. BMW X7

The 2023 <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/bmw/x7/">X7</a> will also make its Indian debut at BMW's event on December 10,&nbsp;alongside the BMW XM. The car will receive enhancements in the form of a split headlight up front, fresh alloy wheels, a pair of sleeker LED tail lights, and reworked front and back bumpers as part of the latest update.&nbsp;It will have a 3.0-litre inline six turbo petrol engine, churning out&nbsp;382bhp, and will be offered in&nbsp;xDrive 40i as well as xDrive 30d variants. The single-piece curved display unit that holds the 12.3-inch entirely digital instrument cluster and the 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system will&nbsp;improve the model's interiors. The iDrive OS eighth iteration will also be available.&nbsp;

5.&nbsp;Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara CNG

With the addition of a CNG model by the end of December, Maruti Suzuki will widen the range of its recently&nbsp;released <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/maruti-suzuki/grand-vitara/">Grand Vitara midsize SUV</a>.&nbsp;The car will exclusively&nbsp;sport&nbsp;a 1.5-litre petrol engine combined with a 5-speed manual transmission. The predicted power figures are 102bhp and 136Nm of torque, with a 26.1km/kg fuel economy.
