As the firm suffers from the impact of a rapid capital burn to launch its Ocean SUV in the US and Europe,&nbsp;electric vehicle (EV) producer <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/fisker/">Fisker</a> filed for bankruptcy after deal talks with a major carmaker collapsed. Fisker Group Inc. disclosed estimated assets of USD 500 million to USD 1 billion and estimated liabilities of USD 100 million to USD 500 million in its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in Delaware. According to the court filing, Fisker is believed to have 200–999 creditors. The&nbsp;company stated that it&nbsp;is also in advanced discussions about debtor-in-possession financing with financial stakeholders.

<h2>Fisker Files for Bankruptcy: Key Details</h2>

Fisker began looking for strategic options,&nbsp;such as&nbsp;in-court or out-of-court restructurings and capital markets deals, after talks with a major automaker ended in March.&nbsp;Henrik Fisker, the founder of the U.S. company, had concerns in February about the company's viability and had put off investing in further projects until it had an auto alliance.

In addition, Fisker announced that it would reduce its personnel by roughly 15 per cent&nbsp;owing to the&nbsp;difficulties in selling its Ocean EVs. Less than 25 per cent&nbsp;of the initial projection was met with the production of over 10,000 vehicles in 2023, of which only roughly 4,700 were delivered. To make matters worse for the company, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) was already looking at three previous incidents involving the Ocean EVs manufactured by Fisker in 2023 when the U.S. auto safety authority launched a preliminary investigation into them last month.

This latest development&nbsp;with the bankruptcy of several other EV manufacturers in the last two years, including Proterra, Lordstown, and Electric Last Mile Solutions, as a result of declining cash reserves, difficulties obtaining capital, and challenges in&nbsp;scaling up production.

Globally,&nbsp;the manufacturer offered&nbsp;the Ocean EV&nbsp;in three trim levels: Sport, Ultra, and Extreme. The base Sport trim is said to have an&nbsp;estimated range of 372 kilometres (WLTP test cycle); the Ultra trim&nbsp;has a&nbsp;range of 563 kilometres (WLTP); and the Extreme promises&nbsp;580 kilometres of range (WLTP).&nbsp;The electric SUV was made&nbsp;available in&nbsp;both two-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. The Ocean EV was even spied testing in India last year.&nbsp;

Rs 3.19 crore, ex-showroom). Prospective buyers can make their reservations either through&nbsp;the company's official website or an authorised dealership. The Fisker Ronin Super GT convertible can be booked for a token amount of $ 2,000, which roughly translates&nbsp;to Rs 1.6 lakh. And we suspect that the deliveries for the all-powerful EV will commence in the second half of 2025. Fisker also says that the Super GT will be a limited-run model, the number of units that will exit the production ramp will be limited to 999.&nbsp;

Underneath the skin, the convertible will be equipped with an integrated battery pack, which enables you to achieve a&nbsp;driving range of 965km (600 miles) on a full charge, according to Fisker. Power output is rated at about 986bhp. A sprint from 0 to 96km/h is possible in a claimed time of just two seconds, while the electric vehicle tops out at 275km/h.&nbsp;

<h2>Fisker Ronin Super GT Convertible: Exterior, Underpinnings</h2>

The car features an aluminium space frame with integrated battery cells and carbon fibre 23-inch wheels. Thanks to the use of lightweight material in its construction, some weight savings have&nbsp;been achieved. On the looks front, the car sports butterfly doors for the rear occupants, while the front doors can be unlocked electrically by swiping the handle or using the&nbsp;smartphone application.&nbsp;

According to Fisker, the all-electric Ronin Super GT can be transformed into a sort of 2-in-1 vehicle&nbsp;when the foldable carbon-fibre&nbsp;hardtop is raised, akin to the Mercedes-Ben S-Class convertible.&nbsp;As a result, it ensures ample luggage space. By the way, the foldable roof is activated via a smartphone. Also, there is a front trunk that lends additional storage space.&nbsp;

The manufacturer plans to bring a higher-spec variant of the Ocean EV to India. The dual electric motors in the India-spec Ocean EV will be powered by a larger 113kWh battery pack to provide 468bhp. Power output may be increased to 564bhp when the boost mode is employed. The car can accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in 3.7 seconds.

According to Fisker, the Ocean Extreme is the longest-range electric SUV currently offered in Europe, with a WLTP range of 707km/440 UK miles, rolling on 20-inch wheels.

EV brand Fisker coming to India: What you need to know

California-based EV firm Fisker Inc has selected Hyderabad as the headquarters for its initial operations in India. And by initial, they mean the establishment of a technical centre. But will they also launch their products here?

Henrik Fisker is a veteran of the automobile industry. He has been responsible for developing popular cars like the BMW Z8 roadster and the Aston Martin DB9.

According to reports, California-based EV-maker Fisker Inc. is coming to India. Founded by Henrik Fisker and his wife Geeta Gupta-Fisker, the company plans to first set up a Technical Centre in Hyderabad, which will be followed by a factory in partnership with Foxconn, a Taiwanese electronics manufacturer.

Fisker Inc. currently has one EV and it’s called the Ocean. It was revealed late last year and will go into production before the end of 2022. Available in two battery configurations, the Fisker Ocean can travel more than 560 kilometres (larger battery) on a single charge. There are a total of four variants to pick from and the entry-level Ocean SUV costs around Rs. 28 lakh ($37,499). The top-spec variant has been priced at around Rs. 52 lakh ($68,999).

The EV-maker has another model planned – the Pear. It is expected to make its production debut in 2023, and is expected to come in under $30,000 (roughly Rs. 23 lakh). While it has been reported that the technical centre in Hyderabad has already been set up, the production facility is yet to be constructed. By the time it is up and running, the Pear EV should be out in the open, and could very well become the first Fisker vehicle to be made in India.

As far as demand goes, Henrik Fisker revealed to ETAuto that there are already 25,000 orders in the queue for its Ocean SUV, and these include orders from India as well. They expect to be selling 250,000 units per year, in the next three or four years. So as far as demand is concerned, Fisker Inc. seems to be on solid ground.

The image only reveals the exterior design of the EMotion which kind of resembles the Tesla Model 3… only bigger. The Fisker EMotion has a sloping roofline and is styled to look somewhat like a notchback. The EMotion is a four-door saloon, and all of them have a butterfly opening mechanism. The car sits on large wheels with 7-spoke rims.

Fisker claimed in the tweet that the EMotion will be the world’s most advanced electric vehicle. In addition, he also claimed that the plug-in electric vehicle will have a range of over 640-kilometres, and will have a capability of fast charging its batteries in just nine minutes. Of course, this fast charging will most certainly depend on the equipment the vehicle is being charged with. However, the EMotion will have autonomous drivability and will also be a connected car. The EMotion will feature LIDAR technology for its autonomous driving features, however, up to what level will it be autonomous, remains to be seen.

At the moment, the EMotion looks like it is in its concept stage. However, only time will tell if Fisker can turn this wish list into reality.
