<p>At the EICMA 20023, Indian motorcycle maker Royal Enfield brought two of its latest products – the all-new Himalayan and the Him-E – to the global stage. The latter is the electric prototype of the former. The Him-E or electric Himalayan will be used by the company to develop its new electric powertrains and other components. While the Him-E’s specifications haven't been revealed yet, Royal Enfield says that the first electric motorcycle to be based on it will be unveiled in 2025.</p>

<p>The brand also says that the all-electric Him-E is not just a concept but also a 'test laboratory' for promoting sustainable mobility solutions. Its battery, which forms a structural element of the bike, will be designed in-house, while the motor and controller will be outsourced. To ensure that its battery and other components work in both normal and harsh conditions, the Him-E is said to have undergone wind-tunnel testing and real-world prototype testing.</p>

<p>Taking inspiration from the to-be-launched Himalayan, the Him-E retains the rugged and purposeful aesthetics of its ICE counterpart. The Him-E features a circular LED headlamp, a large windscreen, a single-piece seat, a modified fuel tank to house the charging socket, SM Pro Platinum spoke wheels, petal-type discs, upside-down front forks, and an adjustable rear mono-shock.</p>

<h2>New Royal Enfield Himalayan: India Launch Details</h2>

<p>Royal Enfield also unveiled the all-new Himalayan at the motor show, which will be launched on November 24 in the Indian market. The upcoming Himalayan 450 is a significant upgrade over the Himalayan 411, which will be discontinued this month.</p>

<p>The new Himalayan's 'Sherpa 450' engine makes 40bhp at 8,000rpm and 40Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm, which is about 15 – 16bhp and 8Nm more than the outgoing version. The bike features a 17-litre fuel tank and tips the scales at 196kgs, making it 3kgs lighter than the current Himalayan 411. The bike has a seat height of 825mm, which can be lowered to 805mm or increased to 845mm.</p>

Here's a detailed look at the bike’s specifications, features, cycle parts, and other details.</p>

<h2>Royal Enfield Himalayan: Engine, Hardware</h2>

<p>The Royal Enfield Himalayan will be powered by a new 451.65cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, called the 'Sherpa 450'. Mated to a six-speed gearbox and slip-and-assist clutch, this engine is capable of producing 40bhp at 8,000rpm and 40Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm. For the sake of comparison, the Royal Enfield Himalayan's 411cc oil/air-cooled engine makes 24.3bhp at 6,500rpm and 32Nm of peak torque at 4,000 – 4,500rpm.</p>

<p>The new Royal Enfield bike features a twin-spar frame, which is suspended with the help of a 43mm upside-down fork at the front and a preload-adjustable offset mono-shock at the rear, offering 200mm of wheel travel at both ends. Stopping power comes from a 320mm disc at the front and a 270mm disc at the rear, supported by dual-channel ABS as standard. The ABS here can be turned off at the rear.</p>

<h2>Royal Enfield Himalayan: Size/Dimensions</h2>

<p>The 452cc Royal Enfield Himalayan comes with 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels, shod with tube-type 90/90 front and 140/80 rear tyres from CEAT. In terms of dimensions, the bike has a wheelbase of 1,510mm and a ground clearance of 230mm. The length, width, and height of the bike stand at 2,245mm, 852mm (without handguards), and 1,315mm (without the flyscreen), respectively, making it longer, wider, and taller than the existing 411.</p>

<h2>Royal Enfield Himalayan: Weight, Fuel Tank Capacity, Seat Height</h2>

<p>The fuel tank capacity of the new bike is 17 litres, while the bike's kerb weight is 196 kilograms, making it about 3 kilograms lighter than the current Himalayan 411. Besides, the upcoming Himalayan offers an accessible seat height of 825mm as standard, which can be lowered to 805mm or increased to 845mm.</p>

<p>The Royal Enfield Himalayan is offered in 3 variants – Base, Pass, and Summit. The entry-level variant can be had in a Kaza Brown colour, while the Pass will be available in Slate Himalayan Salt and Slate Poppy Blue colour options. The top-spec Summit variant is available in Hanle Black and Kamet White paint options.</p>

<h2>Royal Enfield Himalayan: Features</h2>

<p>Feature-wise, the bike is equipped with all-LED lighting, a TFT instrument console with full map navigation, an upside-down fork with a fork cover, switchable ABS, ride-by-wire, integrated taillight with turn indicators, and 3 riding modes. Expect the Royal Enfield Himalayan to be priced around Rs 2.6 – 2.8 lakh (ex-showroom).</p>
