HMSI has announced robust sales figures for FY 2024-25, registering total sales of over 58.31 lakh units – a solid 19% year-on-year growth compared to the previous fiscal. This strong performance underscores growing customer demand and HMSI’s sustained momentum in both domestic and export markets. Out of the total, domestic sales accounted for 53.26 lakh units, while exports stood at 5.05 lakh units, reflecting growth across segments. The company's performance was bolstered by new product launches, expanded BigWing premium network, and an increased focus on rural markets. With these results, HMSI continues to solidify its position as one of the leading two-wheeler manufacturers in India, signalling a positive outlook for the upcoming fiscal year.March 2025 contributed significantly to the brand's overall performance, with the company selling over 4.27 lakh units during the month, including approximately 4.01 lakh units in the domestic market and 26,037 units exported. The company also updated several models to comply with OBD2B emission norms, adding new features across products such as the Activa, Dio, Shine, Unicorn, and Hornet 2.0. Additionally, the Shine and SP125 crossed 30 lakh units in Eastern India and 10 lakh units in Madhya Pradesh, while cumulative sales in South India exceeded 2 crore units.<h2>Honda CB350, CB350RS, and CB350 H'ness Updated</h2>Meanwhile, the bikemaker has refreshed its CB350 range for 2025, bringing updated versions of the CB350, CB350 H’ness, and CB350RS to the Indian market. The CB350 is now offered in two trims starting at Rs 2.15 lakh, while the CB350 H’ness is available in three variants – DLX, DLX Pro, and DLX Pro Chrome – priced between Rs 2.11 lakh and Rs 2.16 lakh. The top-tier CB350RS, aimed at riders seeking a sportier feel, is sold in DLX and DLX Pro trims, costing Rs 2.16 lakh and Rs 2.19 lakh, respectively (all prices, ex-showroom). All three models now feature revised colour palettes and adhere to the latest OBD2B emission norms. Customers can reserve their motorcycle online or at Honda BigWing showrooms, with deliveries expected to follow soon. The 2025 CB350 debuts in five new hues: Mat Axis Grey Metallic, Mat Dune Brown, Rebel Red Metallic, Pearl Igneous Black, and Pearl Deep Ground Grey. The CB350 H’ness gets two new shades – Rebel Red Metallic and Athletic Blue Metallic. It delivers 21.78bhp of maximum power at 5,500rpm and 30Nm of peak torque at 3,000rpm.

HMSI (Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India) has revealed that it will be transforming its business for the future and part of that transformation will include flexi-fuel motorcycles, electric mobility solutions and the expansion of global exports from its plant in Manesar.

Flexi-fuel

Flexi-fuel motorcycles will be able to run on fuels ranging from E22 (22% ethanol) to E100 (100% ethanol). The benefit of ethanol is that it is kinder to the environment, with fewer emissions and is more affordable than petrol. It isn’t as efficient as petrol though, which could be a drawback. However, Honda has seen success with its flexi-fuel offerings in other emerging markets like Brazil and plans to do the same by launching a flexi-fuel motorcycle in the entry-level commuter segment.&nbsp;

e:Swap

The second big news from HMSI is its foray into being an energy provider. <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/honda/" target="_blank">Honda</a> will introduce the e:Swap battery swapping system in India, offering other manufacturers to adopt Honda’s battery tech and benefit from the e:Swap network. Initially, e:Swap will roll out in Bangalore and Honda has tied up with HPCL and Bangalore metro to set up the first seven swapping stations. This will be followed by other cities.

Global export hub

Honda will be using its production facility in Manesar, Haryana to be a global hub for exports, producing motorcycles not only for other emerging markets but also for developed countries across the world.&nbsp;

Honda and HMSI are also hand in hand to achieve carbon neutrality for all its products and services by 2050 and for that, operations here in India are also being pushed toward being more sustainable. Honda is also aiming for zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles by 2050, by increasing the safety of motorcycles and rider awareness as well.&nbsp;

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India reveals plans for future

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India will be introducing a flexi-fuel motorcycle in the entry-level commuter segment, expanding into the electric mobility solutions space and increasing exports from its facility in Manesar.

Honda has chosen Indonesia to debut the new CBR 150R; if launched in India, will compete with the likes of the Yamaha R15 V3.0

Pandering to the ever-growing demand of smaller capacity sports motorcycles, Japanese marque Honda has unveiled the updated 2019 version of the CBR 150R in Indonesia. This time around, the younger member of the CBR family also gets Repsol racing livery for a colour option. Other updates come&nbsp;in the form of a few mechanical changes, a revised fairing and some new graphics. The 2019 iteration of the CBR 150R also shares several styling elements with its elder siblings.

The revised fairing comprises of a taller windscreen for better protection against wind, combined with new, sharper dual-LED headlamps and LED turn indicators. To add a more premium feel, the new CBR 150R also features a digital instrument cluster with a coloured back-light.&nbsp;Other than the Repsol Moto GP edition, other colour options include Matte Black, Victory Black Red and a Honda Racing Red.&nbsp; &nbsp;

In terms of styling, the 2019 CBR 150R features a heftier fuel tank and a dual-tone exhaust with a silver muffler. There are also design changes in the split seat setup, giving it a more sporty and aggressive stance. Suspension duties are carried out by a telescopic fork and a monoshock rear damper. In terms of braking, the bike is equipped with petal front and rear discs, ABS and a new emergency stop signal (ESS), which flashes the brake light.

For the powertrain, the 2019 CBR 150R comes fitted with a 149cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine which produces around 16.8bhp and 14.4Nm of torque. All this power is transmitted via a 6-speed gearbox. What's noteworthy&nbsp;here is the fact that power and torque figures of the CBR are considerably lower than those of the Yamaha R15 V3.0 (19bhp and 15Nm of torque)&nbsp;which will be its closest competitor if the CBR 150R makes it to India.

Whilst there is no green signal from Honda for the CBR 150R's entry to India yet, it is a possibility that we might get to see this bike on our roads sometime in 2019. However, for success in India, Honda will have to be spot-on with its pricing.

The financial year ending March 2018 has been a good one for Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI). Aside from impressive month-on-month sales, they achieved a few great milestones in the year. In December 2017, the company led two-wheeler sales in 15 states across the country. This benchmark was soon followed up with the production of their 35 millionth vehicle – just after 17 years since they set up shop in India. And more recently, the <a href="https://www.autox.com/reviews/bike-reviews/honda-grazia-first-ride-review/">Honda&nbsp;Grazia</a> has registered sales of over 1 lakh units – just after five months into its launch. In fact, the company sold more than 6.1 million units in FY2017-18 and registered a growth of 22 percent.

Despite such great success, it seems that HMSI doesn’t intend to slow down any soon and is aiming for the title of the highest-selling motorcycle manufacturer in India. Taking steps to get closer to the goal, the company will bring in one new product and 18 updates by March 2019. To help achieve this feat, Honda is looking at an investment of Rs. 800 crores. During the official announcement, Honda also mentioned that they will update their entire lineup. Honda has already unveiled updated versions of some of their motorcycles at the Auto Expo 2018, including the Activa 5G, CB Hornet and CBR 250R.

Speaking at the announcement, Minoru Kato President and CEO of HMSI, said, ‘Our record sales have set a solid foundation in 2017-18, and Honda 2wheelers India will further consolidate its position in 2018-19 as we get ready to lead the biggest paradigm shift of 2020. Moving ahead with the same momentum on the back of customer demand, we will invest close to Rs. 800 crores as we aim for double-digit growth for the third consecutive year in a row as well.’

Besides working on their product strategy, the company will also focus its energies on updating their vehicles to comply with the upcoming ABS regulations in 2019 and BS VI emission norms in 2020. In the interim, Honda will also work on further expanding its dealer network. The big H also aims at expanding to 6,000 touch points pan-India and establish a stronger pre-owned two-wheeler business too. Meanwhile, Honda will continue to educate motorists with their Road Safety Campaign.

In just 17 years after setting shop in India, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has produced more than 35 million two-wheelers.

It’s no secret that the Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has been rocking the sales charts in recent times. With sales of more than half a million units every month, they are inching towards becoming the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the country. While they have had smaller achievements to flaunt frequently, the company has a huge milestone to celebrate today. The Manesar-based firm has produced 35 million two-wheelers since they first started production in India in 2001. Interestingly, the first model to roll out from the factory then was the Activa, and today too, the 35 millionth model produced is the fourth-gen Activa.

Speaking about the milestone, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President, Sales &amp; Marketing, Honda Motorcycle &amp; Scooter India Pvt. Ltd., said, ‘Since the very start in 2001, Honda 2Wheelers India has led with its challenging spirit. Our first model, a scooter (Activa) activated the slowing scooter market with its advanced features and fresh design and is now leading India’s scooterisation as No. 1 selling two-wheeler of India. Delighting 35 million customers with 24 products, Honda two-wheelers are now reaching closer to them through a network of over 5,700 authorised touch-points. India’s Love for Honda’s two-wheelers is Growing, and we are set to meet the future expectations of our customers.’

With production commencing in 2001, it took HMSI 11 years to cross the 10 million mark in India. After the split from Hero in 2012, Honda says they could capitalise on customer demand and add the other 25 million units to the tally in less than six years. The company started off with a production capacity of just 55,000 units and gradually expanded it to an annual production of 16.5 lakh units by 2011. The Japanese bike maker then established three more plants in less than 7 years, increasing the production capacity to 6.4 million.

Honda produced 14.8 million units globally from April 2017 to December 2017. HMSI contributed nearly 31 percent of this number making India the biggest market for Honda globally. Credit where credit’s due, a good percentage of the sales numbers are courtesy of the Activa and the CB Shine.
