<p>Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) reported a 20% increase in sales during last month's festive season, with a total of 4,47,849 vehicles dispatched, as compared to 3,73,221 units delivered in November 2022. The automaker sold 27,172 units abroad and 4,20,677 units domestically. On a MoM basis, the automaker witnessed a fall in both local and foreign sales. From 4,92,884 vehicles delivered in October 2023, the total sales dropped by 9.14%. In addition, exports declined by 9.84% from 30,137 units delivered in October 2023 to 4,20,677 units last month. I must say that Honda has pretty much nailed it with the Shine 100, for it ticks all these boxes in bold. It gets a puny 99cc single-cylinder engine, which is good for around 7.6bhp and 8Nm of torque, and it does the job just fine. The motor is refined and offers decent grunt throughout the rev range. And thanks to its light weight – it weighs only 99kgs! – it’s a peppy little city runabout. Plus, its petite dimensions make it a light and easy motorcycle to squeeze through daily traffic. The ride quality is acceptable, too, and the large saddle definitely helps improve the comfort factor when you are out on the daily grind.</p>

<p>Of course, it was not going to set any lap records at the track, but if you talk about fitness-of-purpose, there’s nothing really wrong with it. It has all the bases well and truly covered. Not to mention, it is also priced competitively and undercuts its main rival by a significant margin, which means it scores high in the value-for-money department.</p>

<p>All said, though, it feels more like a daily appliance or a tool for the job. You can say that is its primary job, but, then, when a motorcycle enters a segment 10 years too late, you definitely expect a bit more zing from it, even if it is at the bottom of the food chain.</p>

<h2>Honda XL750 Transalp: Engine and Hardware</h2>

<p>The Honda XL750 Transalp is propelled by a 755cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine with a 270-degree crankshaft that provides 91bhp and 75Nm of performance numbers. The transmission is taken care of via a 6-speed gearbox, a slip-and-assist clutch, and a bidirectional quickshifter.</p>

<p>The bike has a steel diamond-type frame that weighs 10% less than the frame of the CB500X, claims Honda. The motorcycle's suspension components include 43mm Showa Separate Function upside-down front forks with 200mm of travel and a Pro-Link rear monoshock with 190mm of travel, both of which feature preload adjustability.</p>

<p>As for the braking, the motorbike features 310mm dual discs up front with two-piston axially mounted callipers and a 256mm single disc with a single-piston calliper at the rear. These are set on spoke wheels with block pattern tyres that measure 18-inch in the rear, as well as, 21-inch in the front. Moreover, these are tube tyres. At 208 kg, the new bike by Honda is one of India's lightest multi-cylinder adventure tourers.</p>
