Honda Motorcycle &amp; Scooter India (HMSI) announced a noteworthy domestic wholesale sales figure of more than&nbsp;4.50 lakh&nbsp;units in May 2024,&nbsp;representing&nbsp;a 45 per cent&nbsp;YoY gain&nbsp;from over 3.11 lakh&nbsp;units in the corresponding month of the previous year. With exports soaring by a remarkable 127 per cent, last month's overall sales of about 4.92 lakh&nbsp;units indicated&nbsp;a significant YoY rise of 49 per cent.&nbsp;In the first year of the Shine 100's arrival&nbsp;on the Indian market, the manufacturer&nbsp;reported selling over three lakh units. With over 6,000 touchpoints operating throughout urban and rural India to serve its customers, the company has seen considerable development in the 100-110cc sector in FY'24.

<h2>Honda Shine 100: The&nbsp;Sales Driver</h2>

A large portion of this growth has been fuelled by the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/honda/shine-100/">Shine 100</a>, which has an air-cooled, single-cylinder, 100 cc engine with fuel injection and enhanced smart power (eSP) technology for better fuel economy. With 7.5bhp of maximum power&nbsp;at 7,500rpm and 8.05Nm of peak&nbsp;torque at 6,000rpm, the engine meets the latest BS6 RDE standards.&nbsp;Furthermore, the fuel&nbsp;pump is located outside the fuel tank and includes an auto choke system.

The Honda Shine 100 has minimal bodywork and simple lines, which are typical of commuter vehicles.&nbsp;A single-piece seat, a black headlamp cowl, and black five-spoke alloy wheels are included.&nbsp;The <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/honda/">Honda motorcycle</a> comes in five different paint jobs. For the Shine 100, HMSI is offering a special six-year warranty package that consists of a three-year standard&nbsp;warranty&nbsp;and an&nbsp;optional&nbsp;three-year warranty. The motorcycle has a ground clearance of 168mm, a seat height of 786mm, and a turning radius of 1.9 metres, which leads the class. The&nbsp;wheelbase stands at&nbsp;1,245mm. To provide better braking control, the Honda Shine 100 has an equaliser built into its Combi-Brake System (CBS). It also has a side-stand engine cut-off feature for enhanced&nbsp;safety.

In the first year of the Honda Shine 100's arrival on the Indian market, the manufacturer reported selling over three lakh units.

Honda Motorcycle &amp; Scooter India (HMSI) saw a 45% YoY growth in April, with 5,41,946 units sold in total. The company supplied 4,81,046 units domestically and 60,900 units internationally, representing a 42% and 67% year-on-year increase, respectively. Its sales growth can be ascribed to some of&nbsp;the best-selling models, which include Activa, Dio, and Shine.&nbsp;

In March 2024, HMSI reported sales of 3,86,455 units, indicating an 82% year-over-year increase. Of this, domestic sales stood at 3,58,151 units and exports at 28,304 units, with year-over-year growth of 81% and 95% respectively. Let's look at other developments of the company in the last month.

<h2>Some Key Developments in April 2024</h2>

With an emphasis on CKD (Completely Knocked Down) exports, HMSI inaugurated a brand-new, cutting-edge engine assembly line at its Global Resource Factory in Manesar, Gurugram, (Haryana).&nbsp;The new assembly line has a solid production capability of 600 engines per day, with capacities ranging from 110cc to 300cc for an extensive range of models.&nbsp;

In addition, the company celebrated selling a total of eighty lakh units in Eastern India, comprising locations such as Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and North-East India. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has released its sales data for the month of April. It sold 4,81,046 units domestically and 60,900 units internationally last month.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) had a successful month in August 2023, selling a total of 4,77,590 vehicles, which represents a 3% year-over-year&nbsp;increase from the same period in the previous year. This growth is claimed to be attributed to the company's diverse range of products, innovative approach, and strong emphasis on customer satisfaction. Domestic sales made up 4,51,200 units of the total volume in August 2023, compared to 4,23,216 two-wheelers at the same time last year, marking a rise of more than 6% YoY.&nbsp;Despite the rise in sales in the local market, there was a little drop in exports, with 26,390 units shipped in the previous month compared to 39,307 units in August 2022.&nbsp;

Additionally, an astounding 41.17% month-over-month increase in overall sales was recorded by the two-wheeler company. With 1,40,333 more units sold in just one month, domestic sales jumped by 45.14%. However, exports experienced a slight decline on an MoM basis at 3.84%.

<h2>Honda 2W Introduces 'Extended Warranty’ and ‘Extended Warranty Plus’ Programmes</h2>

Two new warranty programmes, dubbed 'Extended Warranty'&nbsp;and 'Extended Warranty Plus,'&nbsp;have just been introduced for the Big Wing clients. The HMSI Extended Warranty program will be free to join for the first 10,000 buyers of the new H'ness CB350 and CB350RS from August 8, 2023 onwards. The chance is available on a priority basis, with preference given to early engagers.

The 'Extended Warranty Plus' program is available to customers within a flexible timeline that starts 91 days after the day they purchased their vehicle and lasts up to 9 years. The program provides comprehensive warranty protection for a period of ten years, with the added option to extend the guarantee. Moreover, this warranty can still be transferred even if there is a change in ownership.

<h2>Honda's Extended Warranty Plus Program:&nbsp;What's Included?</h2>

The 'Extended Warranty Plus' programme, gives priority to providing broad coverage for pricey engine parts and other essential mechanical and electrical components. The Extended Warranty Plus program gives customers flexibility and choice by offering three custom options: a 3-year insurance for vehicles up to their seventh year, a 2-year policy for those in their eighth year, and a 1-year policy for those in their ninth year. These options provide additional coverage for all of their H'ness and CB350RS motorcycles up to 130,000 kilometres.

HMSI has released its sales data for August. The two-wheeler producer sold 4,51,200 units in the domestic market in August 2023, up over 6% YoY from the 4,23,216 vehicles shipped during the same period in the previous year.

Honda 2 Wheelers India has officially teased the new Shine 100cc bike ahead of the price announcement in India on March 15. While the initial teaser offered little information, we now have a better idea of its design. The new 100cc motorcycle will be an entry-level commuter under the Shine brand, as suggested by the buzzwords 'Shining Future' and 'Honda ki 100' in the latest teaser. Honda has not officially unveiled the specifications and features of the new 100cc bike, but according to industry reports, the new motorcycle will resemble the currently available Shine. The upcoming bike will reportedly have a good fuel efficiency rating.&nbsp; According to the design sketch, the new bike will be a member of the Shine family, displaying a front-end style similar to the current Honda 125cc Shine.

Just like the existing Shine model, the bikini fairing has a slightly elevated V-section in the centre. Additionally, the teaser demonstrates that the upcoming 100cc commuter will be equipped with alloy wheels, a telescopic fork, and twin shock absorbers.&nbsp;With the long, flat single-piece seat sporting no step in the middle, the bike has a simple design in comparison to the current 125cc Shine version.

Mechanically, the new motorcycle is anticipated to be powered by a new 100cc engine, which could produce 8bhp and 8Nm. It may get a combined brake system and a semi-digital instrument. Further, the automaker could launch the model in multiple versions. Right now, Honda doesn't have a 100cc offering in the market – it only has commuter motorcycles with engines under 110cc. The upcoming bike will be the first to have a 100cc engine.

In terms of market competition, the new 100cc bike will compete against Hero's 100cc line-up, the Bajaj Platina 100, etc. For now, there is no information regarding its price, but reports hint that Honda is will introduce the model keeping in mind the prices of the market rivals.

We anticipate the launch of the Honda 100cc bike at an event in Mumbai. However, not much has been known in terms of its features. There is a high probability that the new Honda motorcycle may get a conventional dashboard, a fully digital instrument cluster, an LED DRL, a start/stop system,&nbsp;and others.&nbsp;Such features are not common in the entry-level motorcycle segment.

The new Honda 100cc bike is expected to be priced more affordably than the Honda CD110 and the Honda Livo in the 100-110cc segment. The upcoming&nbsp;Honda model could go from Rs 73,000 to Rs 76,000 (ex-showroom). Once launched, it could take on the likes of the Bajaj Platina, the Hero HF Deluxe, and the Hero Splendor Plus.&nbsp;

New Honda 100cc Commuter Bike to Launch in India on March 15

The new Honda 100cc commuter bike will resemble the 125cc Honda Shine in terms of design. The Honda 100cc engine is expected to produce power and torque figures similar to the Hero Splendor's 7.8bhp and 8Nm.

The Honda Shine Celebration Edition commands a premium of Rs 1,500 over the standard variant.

Japanese motorcycle manufacturer <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/honda/shine/" target="_blank">Honda</a> has launched the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/honda/shine/" target="_blank">Shine</a> Celebration Edition, a special edition motorcycle based on the Honda Shine. The Celebration Edition has been launched to mark the sale of 1 crore units of the Shine in the Indian&nbsp; market.

The Honda Shine Celebration Edition has been priced at Rs 78,878 (Ex-showroom), which makes it Rs 1,500 more expensive than the standard Shine variant. For the added money, you get two new colour options – Matte Steel Black Metallic and Matte Sangria Red Metallic. In addition to these two new colours, you will also find golden stickers running along most of the length of the motorcycle, along with a new brown seat. If you are used to riding the regular Shine, you will definitely notice these additions, although the shape of the motorcycle remains the same as before.

Mechanically, there are no changes. The Shine Celebration Edition continues to use the 123.94cc engine from the regular Shine that makes 10.6bhp and 11Nm, and a five-speed transmission channels that drive to the rear wheel.

As nothing substantial has changed, the Honda Shine Celebration Edition will rival the Hero <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/hero/super-splendor/" target="_blank">Super Splendor</a> and the recently launched Bajaj <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/bajaj/ct-125x/" target="_blank">CT125X</a>, like the regular Shine.
