<p>Following the debut of the new ID. GTI concept vehicle at the 2023 IAA Mobility show in Munich, Volkswagen has recently showcased the all-electric sports limousine in the upper mid-sized class at the ID. Treffen Show in Locarno, Switzerland – a gathering of ID. enthusiasts, supported by Volkswagen. Called the ID.X Performance, the concept car is based on the ID.7 electric hatch, which is slated to be launched in the US in 2024. In terms of design, the ID.X Performance does not share much in common with its counterpart visually. Up front, the ID.X gets a massive black grille on the lower bumper and matching vents. On the sides, a set of 20-inch sports alloy wheels are covered in chunky black plastic. At the rear, the Volkswagen ID.X Performance has a sizeable spoiler, which sits atop the trunk lid and features tinted tail light clusters. The same red piping that runs down the front and sides also extends to the rear.</p>

<p>The concept gets a host of sporty features, which includes the front splitter and rear diffuser, both of which are made of carbon. There are also familiar red styling accents reminiscent of the GTI. In terms of dimensions, the ID.X Performance sits 60mm lower than the ID.7 sedan.</p>

<h2>Volkswagen ID.X Performance Concept EV: Interior</h2>

<p>Inside, occupants sit on carbon bucket seats, which are said to provide optimum support. Red accents continue inside the cabin as well, highlighting the car's sporty character.</p>

<h2>Volkswagen ID.X Performance Concept EV: Powertrain</h2>

<p>The ID.X Performance shares its underpinning with the majority of contemporary Volkswagen electric vehicles, utilizing the MEB architecture, which is the world's first dedicated modular electric vehicle platform. Beneath the hood, this car boasts a high-capacity drive battery that delivers substantial continuous power output and supports DC fast charging with an impressive capacity of up to 200kW.</p>

<p>The ID.X Performance features a dual motor setup – a permanently excited synchronous motor on the rear axle and an additional asynchronous motor on the front axle, making it four-wheel drive. This setup cranks out the combined power output of 551bhp. With the all-wheel-drive tech, customers can tap into short-term power boosts with minimal drag losses. A Vehicle Dynamics Manager, which also manages the operation of the rear axle differential lock in the ID.X Performance, controls the drive torque. A separate display with a 7.0-inch screen diagonal in the centre console is used to achieve this.</p>

<h2>Volkswagen ID.X Performance Concept EV: Performance Aids</h2>

<p>In addition, the Volkswagen ID.X Performance concept car also receives performance enhancements in the form of a lowered sports suspension with stiffer springs, increased toe angle by 80mm, 20-inch alloy wheels with central locks, and size 265 racing tyres. The car also benefits from a few tweaks to its aerodynamics, and a carbon ring has been incorporated at the rear to ensure the necessary downforce.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>It remains to be seen if this concept car will enter production. Regardless, Volkswagen is planning to launch the ID.7 GTX with better aerodynamics, aggressive accents, and probably more power soon.&nbsp;</p>
