A special edition of the Indian FTR bike has made its way to the international shores. The new Indian FTR x RSD Super Hooligan is a brainchild of Indian Motorcycle and veteran racer and designer Roland Sands. It is based on the Indian FTR R Carbon and is priced at $18,499, equivalent to Rs 15.32 lakh. The American automaker states that the special model will be limited to just 300 units, with 150 set aside for sale outside North America. In addition, each bike will have a unique number.&nbsp;Aaron Jax, vice president, of Indian Motorcycle said,&nbsp;“The term ‘hooligan’ has taken on an entirely new meaning in the world of motorcycles, characterised by a rebellious, fearless attitude that places having fun on a motorcycle above all else, and that’s what this new FTR is all about.”&nbsp;

Roland Sands, Founder of RSD commented on the special model and said “Far from the full fairing machines you normally see on the racetrack, a Super Hooligan bike has an effortless attitude and a custom aesthetic with an exposed powertrain. When <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/indian/">Indian Motorcycle</a> approached us to codesign an Indian FTR for consumers, it was a natural fit, and something we were very excited to be a part of.”

<h2>Indian FTR x RSD Super Hooligan: Cosmetic and Feature Details&nbsp;</h2>

The Hooligan edition represents an aesthetic update on the conventional FTR R Carbon.&nbsp;It features&nbsp;a classic Indian Motorcycle Red frame with complementing wheels adorned with golden highlights and a black metallic body with racing decals that read 'Super Hooligan'.&nbsp;The No. 1 championship symbol of Indian Motorcycle Racing is also displayed on the front and side of the exclusive FTR edition. The bike also includes race team sponsor badges on the rear seat cowl, as well as optional graphics for the front fender, radiator shroud, and front forks.

Many features are included with the bike, such as a 4-inch touchscreen display that runs on India's Ride Command system and boasts&nbsp;Bluetooth and smartphone compatibility,&nbsp;three riding modes (rain, standard, and sport), wheelie control, rear-wheel lift mitigation, and&nbsp;lean-sensitive ABS.&nbsp;Along with performance parts from Gilles Tooling, which include adjustable rear sets, an oil cap, a radiator cap, and bar-end weights, the bike also has an Akrapovic muffler and heat shield.&nbsp;

<h2>Indian FTR x RSD Super Hooligan: Engine</h2>

A 1,203cc twin-cylinder motor with a maximum power rating of 120bhp and a peak torque of 120Nm powers the motorcycle. For transmission,&nbsp;the engine uses a&nbsp;6-speed transmission with slip and assist clutch. The hardware components of the bike include Brembo brakes (a 260mm disc with two callipers at the back and two 320mm discs with four callipers at the front) along with a fully adjustable Ohlins suspension.&nbsp;

Indian Motorcycle also revealed the <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/bike-news/2024-indian-roadmaster-elite-breaks-cover-globally-will-be-limited-to-350-units-116094/">limited-edition 2024 Roadmaster Elite</a> version last month.&nbsp;

2024 Indian FTR x RSD Super Hooligan Special Edition Makes Global Debut, Priced Equivalent of Rs 15.32 Lakh

Indian Motorcycle, in partnership with iconic racer and designer Roland Sands, has introduced a limited-run model —FTR x RSD Super Hooligan.

Indian Motorcycle, America's first motorcycle company, has recently unveiled the Sport Chief in the international markets. It is possible that the new Indian Sport Chief might enter the Indian market. The company has brought&nbsp;out the sportier model to expand the&nbsp;Chief line-up of cruiser motorcycles&nbsp;for the current year. The 2023 Indian Sport Chief is claimed to be more performance-oriented and aggressive (in terms of styling) than its stablemates. Interestingly, the Sport Chief is the only motorcycle in the line-up to use&nbsp;inverted, 43mm KYB front forks. It is equipped with Indian's Thunderstroke 116 V-twin engine that displaces 1,890cc. The air-cooled engine gives out 162Nm of peak torque at 3,200rpm and is paired with a 6-speed transmission.

The 2023&nbsp;cruiser&nbsp;has a rake angle of 28-degrees and a trail of 111mm, which makes it sharper than the standard Chief. It&nbsp;receives twin Fox shock absorbers for compression and rebound adjustments. The Fox units support extra travel of 25mm, making a total of 100mm of travel. The new motorcycle embraces twin radially mounted Brembo monoblock callipers at the front, for improved braking performance. While, other Chief bikes use the axially mounted brake callipers.

In terms of its visual appearance, the Indian Sport Chief flaunts a smoked visor on top of a&nbsp;front bikini fairing, a new headlight cowl with vents, and taller handlebars that sit on 6-inch risers. The bodywork is mostly finished in black and the seat height is accessible at 686mm. The Sport Chief looks sportier in terms of its cycle parts that include a 15.1-litre fuel tank, 19-inch front and 16-inch rear wheels with Pirelli Night Dragon tyres, and three riding modes that are Sport, Tour, and Standard.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The new Sport Chief will be&nbsp;placed&nbsp;above the Chief Dark Horse in the company's line-up. Apart from the newly-unveiled Sport Chief,&nbsp;the Indian Chief range includes&nbsp;the Chief, the Chief Dark Horse, the Chief Bobber, and the Chief Bobber Dark Horse.

The prices of the Indian Sport Chief are expected to go around&nbsp;Rs 25 lakh-30 lakh (USD 18,999). Prices are ex-showroom. Indian Motorcycle has taken&nbsp;the wraps off the new Stealth Grey version of the FTR flat-tracker for&nbsp;international markets. The company has announced that only 150 units of the limited-run motorcycle will be manufactured.

As the name suggests, the new motorcycle has&nbsp;a special grey paint scheme on its fuel tank, headlamp nacelle, and front fender, while&nbsp;the tank sports a vibrant red-coloured ‘FTR’ decal.&nbsp;In terms of equipment, the motorcycle gets all the goodies of the top-spec S variant of the motorcycle. It also gets an Akrapovic exhaust, cornering ABS, three riding modes, and a tubular flat-tracker handlebar sourced from ProTaper, along with a 4.3-inch full-colour TFT instrument cluster with touch sensitivity.

The wheels come wrapped in Metzeler tyres, and the motorcycle gets Brembo brakes and revised steering geometry. Powering the motorcycle is a 1,203cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine, which outputs 120Nm of torque and 122bhp.

Considering that <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/indian/">Indian </a>does not even have the standard FTR in India, the chances of the limited-run model coming to India are really slim. At the moment, the brand’s line-up includes offerings like the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/indian/chief-dark-horse/">Chief Dark Horse</a>, <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/indian/chief-bobber-dark-horse/">Chief Bobber Dark Horse</a>, and Super Chief Limited.

Indian Motorcycle will manufacture only 150 units of the FTR Stealth Grey edition, aimed for international markets. With the special paint-scheme, the motorcycle comes with the same set of features as the motorcycle's S variant.

It looks like Indian is preparing to take the electric motorcycle fight to manufacturers like Harley-Davidson &amp; Zero Motorcycles.&nbsp;

According to a&nbsp;recent media report, Indian Motorcycle has filed a global patent for the name 'EFTR'. Now, it's not too difficult to join the dots here as an 'E' before the name 'FTR' quite plainly hints at some sort of an electric motorcycle based on the American bikemaker's <a href="https://www.autox.com/track-test/indian-ftr-1200-s-track-test-106864/">FTR 1200</a>. And the fact that the name EFTR has been filed under the 'electric motorcycle' category further&nbsp;clears the air on the matter. Plus, given that it's a worldwide patent (filed in multiple countries), it looks like the EFTR will also make it to markets outside the United States.

Unfortunately, nothing beyond this is known at the moment about Indian's electric motorcycle's plans. We don't even know what kind of technology Indian is looking at for its debut electric motorcycle. Although, since Indian Motorcycle is now owned by Polaris, we can look back at the Victory Empulse TT, which happened to be Polaris' first electric motorcycle. Though the&nbsp;Empulse TT was shelved within a very short period, it could potentially give us some ballpark figures for the EFTR.

For those not aware, Polaris had started its own bike company called Victory Motorcycles in 1998, to compete directly with Harley-Davidson. However, due to Victory's&nbsp;growing losses and Polaris' focus shifting to Indian Motorcycle&nbsp;(which it had acquired in 2011), Victory Motorcycles ended production in 2017.

However, we're in the middle of 2020 and a product from 2016 isn't the base for a new product. On the other hand, the electric motorcycle space has now had some time to grow and companies like Harley-Davidson &amp; Zero Motorcycles have already beaten Indian Motorcycle to the punch with the <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/bike-news/harley-davidson-livewire-all-you-need-to-know-106286/">LiveWire</a> &amp; SR/F, respectively. Convention says that Indian will have these two key rivals in mind while working on the EFTR.

Indian Motorcycle has filed a global patent for the name 'EFTR'. It's not too difficult to join the dots here as an 'E' before the name 'FTR' quite plainly hints at some sort of an electric motorcycle based on the American bikemaker's FTR 1200.

Indian Motorcycle is offering discounts ranging between Rs 3.57&nbsp;lakh and&nbsp;Rs 6.71&nbsp;lakh on motorcycles like the Scout, Scout Bobber, FTR 1200, S and Chief Dark Horse.&nbsp;

These aren’t exactly the times to buy a high-end motorcycle, perhaps, but if you want to own an Indian Motorcycle, there’s no better time than now! You see, right now, the company is offering massive discounts on its BS4 motorcycles to clear the stock. The discounts range from Rs 3.57&nbsp;lakh to Rs 6.71&nbsp;lakh!

Among the discounted motorcycles, the Indian Scout is being sold at Rs 14.80 lakh as opposed to Rs 18.37 lakh –&nbsp;a price cut of Rs 3.57&nbsp;lakh! Next up is the Indian FTR 1200 S, which has received a price cut of Rs 3.85&nbsp;lakh – Rs 16.30 lakh vs Rs 20.15 lakh (earlier). That’s a sweet deal indeed because the FTR 1200 S is one of the most impressive and exciting motorcycles&nbsp;that we tested&nbsp;last year. In fact, it bagged autoX’s Performance Bike of the Year award in 2019.

The Scout Bobber has received a price cut of Rs 4.30 lakh. This means it’s now available for Rs 11.43 lakh! That’s quite a cut, we’ve to say.

If you want a classic cruiser, there’s a heavy discount being offered on Chief Dark Horse. From Rs 23.67 lakh, the price of the Chief Dark Horse has dropped down to Rs 16.96 lakh. At Rs 6.71&nbsp;lakh, this is the biggest discount on offer by Indian Motorcycle.

What’s more, all of the listed prices above are on-road, and not ex-showroom. Sure, these motorcycles are BS4, but you’ll still be able to register them post lockdown since the BS6 deadline has been extended owing to the current Coronavirus crisis. As for riding aids, the 2020 Challenger is loaded to the gills with features like&nbsp;electronic cruise control, full LED lighting, ABS, and keyless ignition. The Challenger&nbsp;also makes use of Indian's&nbsp;Smart Lean Technology (not available on the base Standard version), which works via a six-axis&nbsp;Bosch IMU and adds cornering pre-control to the Dynamic Traction Control, ABS, and Drag Torque Control. All these features, along with the three riding modes (Rain, Standard, and Sport), can be controlled using the 7-inch&nbsp;RideCommand touchscreen system. The system, in addition, can even display weather and traffic updates and manage&nbsp;the Bluetooth &amp; USB connectivity.

Coming to the underpinnings, the 2020 Challenger sits on a hydraulically-adjustable Fox rear&nbsp;monoshock and 43mm inverted telescopic front forks. For better handling &amp; ride stability, the Challenger comes with a chassis-mounted front fairing and touring-spec Metzeler&nbsp;Cruisetec tyres. To manage the PowerPlus motor's power, braking duties are taken care of by race-spec Brembo callipers mounted on twin 320mm front discs &amp; a single 298mm floating rear disc. Other standard bits include weatherproof saddlebags with over 68 litres of storage and an adjustable windscreen with about three inches of travel &amp;&nbsp;adjustable air vents.

America’s first motorcycle company, Indian Motorcycle has raised the bar yet again for American motorcycles with the announcement of its most powerful engine to date, the PowerPlus.

Indian Motorcycle has just made a pretty big announcement regarding their upcoming motorcycle. The American bikemaker is set to launch the Challenger bagger motorbike and it will feature the most powerful engine ever to come from the company. The all-new, 1,769cc V-twin&nbsp;liquid-cooled motor will deliver a class-leading 121bhp and 178Nm of torque.

The fixed-fairing bagger bike, which will be called the Challenger, will utilise Indian Motorcycle’s state-of-the-art engine technology and become one of the highest-performing American V-twins to ever be developed. The new engine is called the PowerPlus and pays tribute to the Indian PowerPlus motorcycle produced from 1916 to 1924.

The PowerPlus engine has borrowed some design and performance features from the 1,133cc V-twin, liquid-cooled Indian Scout engine, which includes the overhead camshaft design utilising four valves per cylinder. However, the comparisons stop there. The new PowerPlus engine has been developed with a big-piston, big-torque mindset that will ensure maximum power delivery across the entire curve. The all-new engine will be mated to a six-speed transmission and will also feature true overdrive, assist clutch, and three riding modes with different throttle mapping.

America’s first motorcycle company, Indian Motorcycle has raised the bar yet again for American motorcycles with the announcement of its most powerful engine to date, the PowerPlus.

Indian Motorcycle is offering attractive financing schemes in order to expand its customer base. Indian Motorcycle has announced their tie-up with HDFC bank which aims at providing new financing facilities for its customers.

The Indian Scout series has an issue in&nbsp;its Anti-lock Brake System.&nbsp;

Indian Motorcycle Company has recalled 4,185 units the Scout, Scout Bobber and Scout Sixty motorcycles&nbsp;– all produced between 2017 and 2018. Currently, the recall is taking place only in the US.

The reported problem with these bikes is with their respective Anti-Lock Brake Systems (ABS), which may still have air inside after the assembly process. This can potentially make the brakes weaker, resulting in a risk of crash.

Indian Motorcycle is expected to start notifying its American customers about this issue from&nbsp;this month itself. The company's dealers will fix this issue by bleeding the front and rear anti-lock brake system, at no cost.

It is not yet known if this issue has caused any accidents or injury. All three of these affected Indian models are also sold in India. Since these bikes are imported to India via the CBU route, they might have a similar problem. However, we can't confirm anything until Indian Motorcycle releases an official statement regarding the same.
